Yeah... about that. The dealer told me the PHEV can tow a weight of 1500 pounds. I tried searching, some sites mean the "effort" of towing 1500 pounds is about 10% of the total weight of the trailer, so a maximum weight of 15000 pounds?

Or is it the other way around?

It's my first vehicle with a towing hitch, sorry about the newbie question. I just don't want that hitch to be an overpriced decoration.

Sorry. Depending on the market you're in the trailer must be no more than 1500 pounds or 1500 kg.

I'm guessing your dealer may have been referring to an unbraked trailer.

In Sweden the PHEVs towing limits are as follows:

750 kg (1 650 lbs) for an unbraked trailer

1 500 kg (3 300 lbs) for a braked trailer.

I expect the above limits would be the same for other EU countries (and not wildly different in other countries).

US, Canada and New Zealand Zealand are known to have lower tow ratings (pounds for kgs, really). OP may be in one of those countries.

That's odd, I was sure I put my info on my profile. Yeah from Canada. Guess I'll have to experiment, never towed before so I might start with simple trailers for light charges and go up from that.
