Hi, I have an Outlander PHEV '65 plate (UK). It has the 360deg camera, steering wheel controls etc. I want to replace the standard headunit with possibly the Pioneer SPH-DA130DAB unit. I realise the PHEV specific info will be gone but will the camera system still work ? Also wondering what connection/installation kit I would need. I have seen Connect2 mentioned but they were unsure. What would be wonderful if someone has done this if they could say what I need to get. Many Thanks in advance.

Connect2 is fine, I used the same for my Pioneer. Don't know about the camera though.

Looks like the only option is to spend ££££ for the Mitsubishi MGN head unit to retain the 360 camera and add Carplay/Android Auto although you lose the PHEV specific screens. Another option may be to retrofit the newer Mitsubishi SDA unit from 2017/2018 models but unsure if anyone has successfully manged to retrofit into an older PHEV?

Ok, I have taken the plunge and ordered the smartphone link display radio unit from a scrapped 2016 Juro. I have a my16 Gx4h with the 360 camera, I am hoping to retain all feature but am aware there is a risk to me missing one or two features such as the camera. Does the small box under the mmcs with the green plug control the WiFi remote control? The green plug appears to be the only different plug on the sda vs the mmcs (looks half the size of the “external box bolted to the bottom of mmcs). Do the Mitsubishi radios require a key (radio is supplied with original vin to get code if required)? I will share my experiences at the retrofit.

Ok so tonight albeit very rushed I’ve installed the SDA radio into my MY16 GX4H replacing the MMCS and it’s gone somewhat successfully so far.

So FM radio is working as expected, DAB no\weak signal but there is a separate radio amp on the bottom of the MMCS that may be the reason it’s not getting reception. 360 camera all working, Phev screen, car settings all ok.

What’s not working right now is error message saying bad mic connection, no usb devices connected as there are two USB ports on the rear of the radio that will need connecting for CarPlay/android auto and finally I can’t set timers for remote climate/charging or get the WiFi remote access.

Thanks for sharing that. I was just thinking of doing the same, may I ask how much you managed to pay for the Juro headunit?

Did you manage to fiddle any more with it since your last post and fix those bits that weren't working?

Please let us know!!

Hey,

first post here! just landed a 65 plate PHEV. first time owning a Mitsu. Really interested in knowing if the Juro radio worked and if you retain all of the eco features of the car.

Also do you have a part number for the Juro unit used?

Regards,

Darren

I managed to source the Juro radio for £500 from a breakers yard and so far I have the following functions working:

Phev specific displays
360 camera
Car settings
Dab (I had to purchase two adaptor cables to retain the standard fm iso radio cable and the additional female fakra cable needed)

What’s not working (yet)

Android auto/Apple CarPlay (i am waiting for the propriety usb cable/socket required from Mitsubishi)
Microphone for handsfree randomly I found a post from someone who fitted the SDA into a Lancer and had the same issue until the previously mentioned usb cable was attached to the back of the radio.
Climate timer/charging timer from the radio (not the app) - gives me a message saying there is nothing to set. I guess as the Juro doesn’t have the remote module the radio needs activating for those functions. A question I will ask at mitsubishi.

The part number for the SDA is MXL015ELG4. There is one on eBay right now located in Estonia but I shopped around looking at breakers on EBay until I could find one. I noticed the new radio didn’t come with the separate radio antenna booster module that is separate to the MMCS so can be retained.

As soon as I get the remaining parts I will post and update and a full write up of the swap.

care to share the part number for this ?

Hi!
I'm very interested to see where you are with this project? Would you mind sharing the progress please? :)

Hi, it’s going ok so far still need to sort the microphone waiting on another user on the Mitsubishiforum who has the cabling diagrams and looking to connect the mic from the separate hands free connector on the mmcs

Any news on this @electricdreams? Thanks

I fitted the Pioneer SPH-DA230DAB unit which gives me a choice of Satnav so I now have CarPlay, Google & Waze. I also have Tomtom. Of these I prefer Waze with its interactive notifications and ability to to report road conditions back to Waze for transmission to others. Incidentally I still have the factory fitted Satnav unit.
I have a problem with the mobile phone Satnav coverage as my 2015 PHEV's aerial does not seem to be good enough to cope with the UK coverage. The better coverage appears to come from Waze.
What is my best remedy, is it to increase the power of the aerial amplifier or to have a completely new aerial fitted ?

I managed to the the mic running fine bu needing to make a small adaptor lead to take 3 wires from the HFM (unit under located under the radio with a green label on it) into the grey 16 pin multi plug and a fourth to just earth to the radio.
