Am considering creating a UK based PHEV owners club.

Thinking of things like

- a club website (naturally)
- electronic news letter with information garnered from the forums being sanitised into articles
- a nice phev keyring for members
- access to a 4wd location that can provide charging services (charge units installed by sponsors)
- organised days at the 4wd location say twice a year
- general information area on things like charge units cables etc, where to get them, how to secure them and so forth
- updated information from areas such as OLEV and government grants etc
- photo galleries
- useful links to things like this forum, etc, as don't see the reason to replace something that already works

and so forth.

Comments from people as to what it could include, and also would this be of interest to people.

No point doing it if it's only going to have 1 member.

Cheers

Count me in. Your base suggestions look good, I'm a member of the 75andZT club (until my ZT goes in 4 days, sob) and love the club letting and sticker!

An alternative to a website would be another forum but with posts of stickies for key topics. Difficult as you prob. Don't want to rival this forum, but there are some topics/areas you might want specifically for a UK club.

I'm not sure that I feel the need for anything other than this forum - but I must admit that I am not a club joiner. If it existed and was free, or very cheap, to join then I guess I would, but only for the information exchange - my car is a way to get from A to B and nothing more to me.

I have to agree with Maby in that we already have a great source of information about our chosen steeds right here :) Admittedly it is not UK based but surely that means we have a much wider knowledge base and the whole world for hints & tips - all things PHEVness in fact?

As for your idea about access to a 4wd location that can provide charging services (charge units installed by sponsors) , I don't think this would be practical - where in the UK would you start and just how much sponsorship do you expect to get?

I have been a member of a few specialist forums in the past ( mostly kit cars ) and to be honest whenever a meet was organised it never really worked very well - it seems many owners, while very outspoken on the forums, were really quite shy in reality and preferred having their discussion online.

Not for me thanks, this site is all I need. Oh and I think someone else has already tried, don't think it's been a huge success, but there may be reasons for that: http://phev.club/

user PHEVclub http://www.myoutlanderphev.com/forum/memberlist.php?mode=viewprofile&u=304 lives near my office so back in July when it was all new and exciting I dropped him a PM as I was wondering about the same as this thread, and that PM is still sat in my outbox unread :(
I think its a great idea, those that want to meet up can, those that don't want to, thats fine. I thought thats where the regional discussion thread was heading - given the geographical spread, regional meet ups might be easier than a major single one. Very easy for me to say its a good idea - I dont have the admin ability/time to sort it. but i'm in.
