Ok first post so hello.

Loving my GX3h ticks all the boxes for me but recently bought a horse trailer and cannot work out how to turn the reversing sensors off? According to the manual there should be a button on righthand side off dash with Sonar on it??? No button on my PHEV.

I've searched the topics on this forum and found plenty about the reversing sensors being to quiet which I don't find on mine, quite the opposite its very annoying when I'm trying to back the trailer up as it constantly going off as they see the trailer as an hazard.

Hope someone can help or its a call to the dealers.

Cheers

The sensors on my gx3h are not standard Mitsubishi fit ones, I am guessing they are retrofitted by the UK importer. Others on here have found the same with the sensors on their gx3h. This is the reason why you do not have the Mitsubishi button for turning them off.
I think your only option is to disconnect them, which is quite easy to do.
Remove the trim panel on the left side of the boot space, only a few screws. The sensor unit is tucked up to a metal bar just in front of the rear light. You can easily unplug the wires from it.

Now found out that actually non of my trailer lights have ever worked since the main dealer fitted the towbar! I know I should check them before each journey but foolishly presumed that the dealer would have checked my the towbar electrics before handing car back to me.
Rang said dealer who told me that they could have a look but would need the car all day, again and no courtesy car available until 28th May!
So decided to have a look myself with the help of a few self fitting guides on here. Its been a while since I fitted a towbar so it came as a shock to find electronic boxes and a spiders web of wires and not a scotchblok in sight! After some prodding and pocking I found that the main earth wire (white one??) From the towbar socket wasn't connected to anything at all. Hey presto bolted it to the earth connection and trailer lights now work. The connection from the towbar control box to the reverse sensor control box was only just connecting with bare wires on +ive so remade that connection and routed the fused +ive wire correctly following original loom and not just shoved under boot trim panel.
So back to my original problem with reversing sensors, turns out that when the towbar socket is connected (and wired up correctly!!!) It actually turns the sensors off automatically so no annoying bleeping with the trailer connected. Problem solved just annoyed a paying £630 to main dealer thinking it would be fitted correctly, professionally and checked before leaving them!!!
All I need now is some reversing sensors on trailer for when the wifes trying to back it up!!!

Hi Lockster,

I realise this was a few years ago but I've just started towing with my PHEV, and the reverse beeper is driving me mad - as if reversing a caravan isn't hard enough already!

Did I understand correctly that the PHEV is supposed to cut out the reverse sensors when towing? I'm wondering if mine doesn't because the dealer didn't fit it right, or because I'm using a 14 pin to 7 pin adaptor and it doesn't have an important link or something.

Thwnks!

There's a button on the dashboard, low down, near the door.

From memory it has a picture of a parking cone on it.

When your trailer socket was wired up, it's supposed to include a feature that disables the reversing sensors when there is a plug in the socket.

I didn't get this feature (it was offered) when I had my towbar fitted, thinking that I'll just use the button on the dash.

This was a mistake on my part. :(

I'm bringing this post up again as I have a similar problem.

Can anyone help me please? I bought a genuine wiring kit and plugged it all in following the instructions but the parking sensors are not disabled in reverse which was not mentioned anywhere in the instructions. I bought this for my 2016 MY: https://www.glynhopkinpartsonline.co.uk/products/mitsubishi-outlander-phev-wiring-kit-13-pin-2016my-mz314897

My local dealer is telling me that the only way to deactivate the sensors with a trailer is to switch them off with the sonar button EVERY time reverse is engaged, which will drive me nuts as I drive with a cycle rack at least twice a week and it also disables the front sensors. Surely there is a setting in the ETACS for it?

Thanks,
Nick

Usually that is taken care of in the wiring for your trailer plug.

When the plug is in, the reversing sensors are turned off.

When I had my towbar fitted, the supplier offered to do this for me.

Foolishly, I declined.

:(
