I need to replace the rear tyres on my 2014 GX4h due to wear. They are Toyo R37s. Fronts are Hankook. I have read earlier posts which seem a little contradictory.....some say you need to have all four tyres the same, while others suggest it is not a problem as long as they match on the axle and are same size and rating all round. Advice welcome!

The Mitsubishi dealer supplied our secondhand car with tyres of different makes and wear levels: in fact I have exactly the same as you. In rare cases, the 4wd software flags the difference in tyre diameter (or circumference) as an error and displays an error on the dash, but the majority of people have no issues.

You do need to make sure that the tyres on an axle are the same diameter though

But to get optimal road behaviour, all tyres should be the same type. Take this opportunity to upgrade all your tyres - the gains in roadholding and comfort can be quite significant.
