I took the family to the Mitsubishi owner day (#MOD2018).

I’ve tried to ask them for more info about PHEV MY2019... It will not coming this year, they said.

I don't think MY2019 Hyundai Sante Fe PHEV will be ready this year either - we may have to wait until Q1 of 2019 to see comparisons of the Sante Fe and Outlander PHEVs, bummer.

I think the strategy is to sell as many as MY2018 possible this year. The customer can not wait until Q1 2019 if he/she wants the Federal Tax credit in the fiscal year 2018...
Another non luxury PHEV SUV is coming next year as well: Pilot from Honda. A little bigger than Outlander/Santa Fe. Subaru is coming with PHEV as well. So many choices!

Assuming the federal tax credit stays in place for 2019 and that USA gets the powertrain update, at least with the 13.8kWh battery, the credit will increase to $6,711 (from $5,836), a small incentive for waiting I guess (along with the MY2019 improvements).

The big question in the next few years will be, how much the Outlander Phev's marketshare will decrease in the face of increasing competition, how Mitsubishi will expand their electrification efforts and lineup in harmony with Nissan, and whether GS Yuasa (a subsidiary of Mitsubishi) can keep up as the entire industry electrifies.

In the next couple of years, the EV scenery in the US will have a big change. The VW’s $2Bi fine will be used to increase the EVSE grid along the roads (as dense as Tesla, probably). Every car maker, except Tesla, is taking advantage of it and launch the (PH)EV. Good for us.

If this article is accurate, MY2019 has arrived! (in the UK, at least): https://www.automotiveworld.com/news-releases/first-shipment-of-2019-mitsubishi-outlander-phev-arrives-in-the-uk

In preparation for the launch of the new 2019 Mitsubishi Outlander PHEV, which goes on sale in the UK on August 1, the first shipment of vehicles has arrived in the UK at Bristol’s Royal Portbury Docks, with more shipments set to dock in the following weeks.

This first batch of around 400 vehicles will enable Mitsubishi Motors in the UK to meet a surge in demand for the UK’s most popular plug-in vehicle, and will be closely followed by nearly 2,000 vehicles in the coming weeks.

However, there is no hint of this August 1st availability date on Mitsubishi's websites, either for UK or Japan:
- UK: http://www.mitsubishi-cars.co.uk/innovation/outlander-phev-2019
- Japan: http://www.mitsubishi-motors.co.jp/lineup/outlander_phev/index.html

Whilst trawling the internet for pictures of the 'rear ventilation vents' on the 2019 models (my daughter hates the lack of these on the current PHEV if she's in the back), I came across this example of good parking:

..and proof that they arrived by ship!

Still no pictures of the 'rear ventilation vents' though!

Just been called by my dealer who says he has a MY2019 demonstrator in now..... Might just wander along to have a look... :D

Car is available to place reservation in Nederlands:

I am waiting for it to be available in Belgium now.

Great, did they talk about pricing and availability if you order today ?
No I was trying to put them off. I've had mine for just over 4 years, and I said I wasn't expecting to replace it until at least next year (my original intention was to keep it for 6 years but that might be a bit ambitious. ).
I'm expecting to be given the full sales pitch if I go in tomorrow....

UK configurator for MY2019 phev is now live: https://buy.mitsubishi-cars.co.uk/car-finder?model[]=4368&fuel_type[]=4372&mileage=10000&deposit=6750&term=36&monthlypay=575&payinfull=1000,100000&depositMultiple=6&maintenance=0&financeGroupType=personal&method=1&group_id=1&product_id=5258&payment_type=&calc_type=pdp

Some interesting things from the configurator:
- silver fog light bezel is only available on higher trims
- finally get to see MY2019 with halogen projector headlights and regular fog lights, this is the UK's "Juro" trim, similar to the USA's "SEL" trim:

- also from the top view, the revised spoiler, which is only available on higher trims, is easier to see:

Could this be the first production review of MY2019? Ok, so it's not very in-depth, I have no idea what he's saying, and it just looks like he's running an errand. But at least this is a non-white non-pre-production model not in France:

Is anyone else surprised that UK's website and availability is ahead of Japan, especially considering that 100% of phev's are made in Japan?
