So, for out and about with the type to type 1 is my understanding correct?

When starting to charge you connect to car first, wait until charging station started and then connect that end

At the end of charge, disconnect vehicle first, then disconnect from the charging station?

And, for Granny cable, connect everything first and switch on, or switch on and then connect? What about disconnecting?

I'm a bit confused!

Don't know about when you're out and about, but the granny cable you can connect and turn on in any order you like. Makes no difference, the car and charger exchange the same signals whatever order they're connected in. I've done it all ways with no issues. As far as disconnecting, I usually switch the mains off first, but you can pull the plug out of the car if you want. Depressing the switch on the connector signals the charger to disconnect the mains from the car (within 100mS, I seem to recall).
