    12v Auxiliary Battery rapid discharge

What is meant by putting the 12V clamp on--What is this clamp device? If it is the hold-down clamp for the battery, then it may be putting force on the battery case to cause an internal shorting of the battery plates or current collector bars.

    12v Auxiliary Battery rapid discharge

Tim, Remove the terminals from the 12V battery and measure the resistance between the + and - cables to see if a short to chassis exists. Never seen or heard of one failing, but there is a big diode module to rectify the H-bridge output in the DC/DC Converter. This could create a high current...

    12v Auxiliary Battery rapid discharge

Yeah check for rodent damage, might be a short to chassis to drop from 13.6 down to 9 so quickly.

    12v Auxiliary Battery rapid discharge

This is quite an unusual problem. What model year is your car, and what is the age of the 12V battery that was replaced? Did you measure the "brand new" battery voltage, or give it a charge to full? Many new batteries sit on the shelves for extended periods and tend to self discharge, such...

    no charge

The main HV battery pack cannot be charged if the 12V Auxiliary battery is worn out or dead; the 12V battery provides the low-voltage power for the On-Board Charrger (OBC) and DC-DC Converter and all the other ECUs, and the drive current for all the relays and HV contactors in the pack. An...

Engine doesn't start when ev range reaches 0

Over the past 10 years i have done troubleshooting and repairs on hundreds of EVs with electrical problems. A healthy 12V battery is so very much more important for an EV than a regular gas car with an alternator. The EV uses the main HV pack thru a DCDC converter to charge the 12V; the load...

Engine doesn't start when ev range reaches 0

Yes definitely worth mentioning in the first post.

Engine doesn't start when ev range reaches 0

Also what is the age and condition of your 12V battery? That is something to consider when troubleshooting issues. An old weak or worn out 12V battery can cause a multitude of issues with ECUs and relays, although usually a DTC is thrown for a low voltage fault.

Why is the level 2 charging time so slow?

The inductors and transformers inside a Mitsubishi OBC (made by Nichicon) get hot; to charge faster would require an upgrade in sizing and capacity of these magnetics in addition to the cooling system. Tesla OBC is larger and has better cooling system too.

"EV System Service Required" after problems with the aux battery

Use your very expensive meter and measure directly across the 12V battery terminals with the Key in OFF position, that will give you the open circuit voltage. If your 12V battery is the original OEM from when the car was new, then you have gotten your money's worth and then some. Congrats.

Why is the level 2 charging time so slow?

Keep costs down as low as possible but still do the minimum task required?
  13. K

Why is the level 2 charging time so slow?

The speed of charging is determined by the On-Board Charger (OBC) not the EVSE max rate.

FCM and LDW disabled "dealer cannot fix"

It's time to replace your 12V starter battery, those voltage levels indicate a worn out battery. An old, weak or worn out 12V battery will cause a multitude of faults in an electric or hybrid car, especially in the charging or starting sequence. The main pack contactors require a strong 12V in...

"EV System Service Required" after problems with the aux battery

From your reporting of the car not starting, it seems that the tech would have initially seen P0C78 with the MUT scanner. The system wants to check and verify that HV is present after issuing the START command; after a time-out it will issue a HV fault. DTC P0C78: The PHEV-ECU sets diagnosis...
