2014 Outlander PEHV with 120k km .. from Holand ... risks?

Most Outlander PHEV's here, in the Netherlands, were leased cars as a result of a fiscal regime. Leasecars are usually well looked after in terms of maintenance. Most Dutch cars don't suffer too much: it's flat around here and most roads are in excellent condition. It isn't hard to explain why...

    EV System Failure

I have a new MY2016, december 2015, which had the EV-system fault twice. The first time, the system could be reset. The second time, they didn't reset, to make sure they could find the problem. Mileage was about 3.000 and 5.000. Faults occured after "slow" charging. It seemed, after research...

Aaaaarrrrrgggghhhhh please make the beeps stop

You can, actually, avoid a lot of beeps and noises: 1. MMCS: There is an option in the menu to switch MMCS noises off; 2. Dashboard beeps (switching through menu's): a. Turn your car on. b. Put it in park. c. use handbrake (firmly). d. go through information display menu until you arrive at...

Rear Electric Motor can be heard

There is, obviously, the typical electric engine sound when driving away, and also when accelerating in my M2016. A couple of weeks ago, I was in a great hurry. Since that drive, I noticed a high sound as described when doing 70 MPH on the electric engines. And yes, it is annoying. But so is...

    How Safe Do You Feel

Well, a Volvo XC60 (let alone a XC90) will be safer. As will a Mercedes GL / M or whatever they are called these days. The same goes for the BMW X5, X6 and big Audi's. Fact is, that Volvo and Mercedes (BMW and Audi are NOT included) use stronger steel. How do I know? Because cutting a vehicle...

    How Safe Do You Feel

I would not worry at all about the batteries; if anything is thought out, it's that part of the car. I had a Volvo V70 which I sold to buy the Outlander. The Volvo felt safer, more rigid, but the Volvo standard on safety is (very) high. That said, I would rather sit in the Outlander having a...

    Acoustic vehicle alerting system

Were you driving in a shopping mall? At 30mph tire sound on almost every car is louder than the engine... (which is also why avas turns off)

    Acoustic vehicle alerting system

Yes. Sort off. You can kill the sound by disconnecting the speaker. Replacing it with another speaker / tune might be a solution. For me driving in absolute silence is just fine, although having the sound of a sheep installed as an option would be funny.

    Long Road Trip planned

Don't worry, especially if there aren't any "add ons" to the car, like for instance a caravan, big roof box or flattened deer in your front grille. Sometimes, if I am in a hurry (no better: when I'm abroad :)), the car is able to maintain 100 mph for as long as I prefer. It has enough power to...

    Eco versus Normal drive modes?

All the above reactions are true, but not really complete. Eco mode indeed does something to throttle response (max output it not influenced, I think) and ACC acts different. But ECO button can be very useful when the outside temperature is < 10 and you don't want to use the engine for heating...

    Killing acoustic vehicle alerting system

And on the LHD model it is in front of your left knee. But which fuse is the AVAS fuse'on the MY16 model? I have to destroy that particular one, and not the brake fuse for instance...

Anyone else who wouldn't have a PHEV again?

The reason I chose the car (MY2016) are: 1. fiscal benefits (this car costs me € 400,- less than my previous Volvo V70); 2. it's got everything I need (space, power, boot, ability to tow); 3. it's not near as ugly as the old model  4. alternative Plugin hybrids (Passat GTE, BENZ C350E)...

More power needed for future EV's?

True... but those prices... It also requires much more expensive installations... For me, that is a bridge too far.
