It sounds like you have got mould on the AC matrix ,this is a common problem with AC systems .most car accessory shops sell an aerosol spray with a long tube that you push into one of the vents in the dash . Have a look at giving one of these a try I hope it sorts your problem for you :)

hi thanks for your replies the foam blocks are dark grey and are only visible from inside the car when the front doors are fully opened ,they are where the sill top meets the rear of tbe front wing at the bottom in the door jamb any help would be appreciated as I have never seen these foam...

I have just got a 2016 my outlander and I have noticed a foam block on the bottom of the front wings where the door hinges are , they are pushed into the end of the top of the sill you see them when the doors are fully opened .does anyone know what these are for ? :D
