    Clipping the underside

I was doing some mild off roading today and clipped the underside twice whilst going over the apex of a sharp ridge. I checked the underside thinking it might be bad but there's no visible damage to the underside (from what I could see from sticking my head to the ground) and no visible damage...

PHEV alarm can be switched off using hacked wifi [merged]

I've never used the app since buying new from the dealer and so have never registered the app. Do I also have to go through this process?

    First road trip

By cruising at the slightly slower 60mph with the "Charge" button pressed you will also be using the petrol engine more efficiently to produce power for the battery. As long as this battery power is used in stop/start (city) driving it is better than cruising on 70mph with an empty battery on...

    Thule Backpac 973

I have just fitted the above item to the Outlander MY16. I had to make several adjustments from the recommended Outlander settings (which are based on the MK III 2013 model) Has anyone else fitted this cycle carrier and used it successfully? I'm hoping it won't fall off!! :o

Rear Electric Motor can be heard

When I have the seats down it is more noticeable, but does anyone else hear a high pitched "whistle" from the rear when accelerating in EV mode? I have a MY16.

How long/distance to regenerate battery to 80%

But if you travelled at 110kph then would the engine be in the "Charge mode Sweet Spot" for providing enough power to maintain your speed on a flat road and enough power to charge the battery to full in about an hour (I'm guessing here). This would be a good test I think?

How long/distance to regenerate battery to 80%

Pretty cool. So it looks like the data from your graph shows that max recharging rate if you were to press the charge button would be at around 110km/h? (On a flat road) Have I understood correctly?

Any precautions to take for winter driving?

Wow, these photos are amazing. Did you take these yourself earlier this year? I wonder if there will be any snow for my trip in two weeks (my pictures will not look as good )

Any precautions to take for winter driving?

We're doing the southern part of the "North Coast 500" but will also be driving through the Applecross and Aberfeldy -> Dalwhinnie peaks.

    MMCS Display "Off"

Does anyone know how you turn the MMCS display off when one wants to use their smartphone for most activity?

Any precautions to take for winter driving?

Thanks all. I will invest in some winter tyres before I drive to the Alps next year. For this Scotland trip, I guess the Outlander is good "Straight out of the box" then :)

Any precautions to take for winter driving?

I'll be driving my MY16 in Cairngorms in a couple of weeks and would like to be prepared for winter high altitude driving. I wondered if anyone has any advice for driving the PHEV Outlander in these conditions, i.e. High altitude zero or low degree centigrade. Any practical suggestion would be...

    Save Mode

Since the battery is never actually at zero (since the power management system always has a hidden reserve) is my assumption correct that the car always operates in a virtual "Save Mode" when the minimum battery level is reached? I.e. it flicks between engine and battery constantly to keep the...

    Charge Mode/Button

This does not tally with the official FAQ: In Parallel Hybrid mode the engine drives the wheels directly, which activates when the battery is empty or the car is driven above 74mph.

    Charge Mode/Button

I've seen in the technical forum someone mentioned 2 to 3 litres but I didn't know how much of a guess that was. When you say it's more efficient in parallel mode, this would imply that it's for when we're going over 70mph, is that correct?

    Charge Mode/Button

Has anyone on this forum measured exactly how much petrol it takes to charge the PHEV battery from 0% to 80% using the "Charge" button when the car is stationary? It's just that I live in a communal garage with no access to an overnight charge (yet) so am curious as to how efficient it is to...
