GS Yuasa drive battery in the PHEV. Lets discuss.

If from a frien, i dont know if its LEV50 or LEV50N but its from a i-Miev. ScottyDont that its true, but the I-miev has an output power of 60kW, same that the phev in EV mode so in this case that is not a desing factor.

    Drive battery Thermal Management.

I think the cells are well isolated. They dont touch the case walls so only way to transfer heat is trough natural convection (fan stopped) by the interal air. This morning i did a trip with 5ºC ambient temperature, speed about 80kmh and a final consumption of 16.1 kWh (low power demand). The...

    Drive battery Thermal Management.

Here in Spain its forbidden to sell cars without AC for example. In summer (up to 40ºC) its usual to see the AC compressor working for the battery. But also in winter long trips (300km) at 3ºC ambient sometimes it kicks in for a while as the pack heats in the charge and discharge hysteresis...

GS Yuasa drive battery in the PHEV. Lets discuss.

As jaapv said look at the connectors. The bottom image is from a LEV50 that i have at home.

    Drive battery Thermal Management.

I think there is no heating, only have seen the fan working above 35ºC while driving and 30ºC at CHAdeMO. But my battery has never been below 0ºC. Anyone has seen the fan working at low temperatures? The most symple whay to do it for me will be to use the evaporator as a radiator (heat pump).

GS Yuasa drive battery in the PHEV. Lets discuss.

The phev has not LEV50, the cells are thinner. Less layers less capacity.

Loosing main battery charge during parking

I still think its not cause by balancing. Sometimes the Ah increases 1-2 after some ours parked, and that must be software related, so if you loose some Ah maybe its also software.

Loosing main battery charge during parking

Interesting, but is normal for a lithium battery to reduce the voltage a bit after charge. You can test it with a spare cell without bms. For me going from 3.958V to 3.952V is not due to balancing but tempertarure changes and the resting of the cell, is just 6mV. Passive balacing when the...

Loosing main battery charge during parking

Balancingshould only take place at full charge. If you park the car 1 month it does not discharge as fast as what is described in this post. Is not a energy loose problem, is a energy calculation problem.

    Tyre wear

I rotated my original Toyos at 40.000km and now with 65.000km they have similar wear and i think they will last other 10.000-20.000km. Front wear is higher so rotation is a must. High presures and smoth driving also help a lot.

Drive battery degradation . Houston, do we have a problem?

Are you sure that the regen reduction is caused by battery temperature and not the state of charge? I've never noticed regen reduction even at ambient temperature of 40ºC, the battery cooling system works fine and keeps it under 37ºC. Try it again with the app to see the temperature. Even...

Generator output in relation to drive battery levels.

The engine at partial load has lower volumetric efficiency than in high load situation, so generator braking the engine will increase fuel efficiency thats for sure. And my experience is the same as Trex, lower SOC better fuel economy.

4WD system does not work, I chase Mitsu for solution.

Today i tested to press 4WD button while driving, this was the result: Normal Mode: 4WD Each time i pressed it the front motor delivered more power and rear motor less. For me it has no much sense, any idea? I think that even it is not a 4x4, with some software change performance from...

4WD system does not work, I chase Mitsu for solution.

Is not a power or torque problem, just traction. A center lock diff does not split torque or power, just equalize RPM. The problem with taking out the boat with rear axle having traction would disappear if 4wd button makes both axles turn at the same RPM, the front wheels will spin, but rear...

    Regen to 4.12Volts each cell

Hi. I think my BMU is having some strange behavior. 1-When drive the car just after charging it, the battery use to be at 103-106% of charge (using EVbatmon). After driving 2 or 3 km the cells voltage is around 4.02 volts, but there is zero regen until i get under 100% of SOC. This is a bit...

Regeneration reduced by last software update

Im used to work with vehicle controllers and we set the amount of regen by % of max motor torque. Power is equal to torque (Nm)*angular velocity (rad/seg). For having a fixed deceleration you need a fixed torque (lets take out looses). So the power for applying 100Nm of regen torque at 80 kmh...

I downloaded it from a post in this forum :D I don´t know how to attach it here but i can send it by mail.

First test of 19,5 kWh battery in PHEV

I've access to a eletric car schema :) I will open it but is still on warranty

First test of 19,5 kWh battery in PHEV

I've seen that the pack has a 350 Amp fuse at the output line and a 70Amp fuse in the Chademo line so even with a bigger pack we can`t go over 100kW of output power and 21kW of Chademo no?

    Possible 4WD fault?

As has been said before is not a power issue but a traction issue. Was the rear left wheel also spining (crossaxle situation)? If not, it has no sense that rear motor doesn't gives enough torque to get out. Did you saw something strange on the S-AWC dashboard? It seems that at low speed S-AWC...
