    Highest MPG

After messing around with it since my earlier posts, I now know it's just a figure really until you've completely burned the battery but today I got this after a 15 mile round trip; It really does amuse me though having those sorts of figures whether they mean anything or not. I do like...

    Next Generation Outlander PHEV GT

It looks like a Chrysler type of motor, all metal and small windows to fool the gullible into thinking it's a big boy's muscle car. Have Mitsubishi been taking design tips from Apple on how to mess up a good idea? It's quite repellent really ...

MY18 - what would you like to see?

In addition to the things above, some other ones I can think of quickly: - Headlight beam activation as FORWARD not BACKWARD flick, leaving BACKWARD flick for flashing lights only. - Auto-sensing rear wiper - Ability to disable ICE entirely regardless of exterior temperature unless the drive...

    Highest MPG

I've previously had sporty cars or ones with big diesel engines so this is taking a bit of time to get used to. Strangely enough, it's most efficient when I drive it to track standards, e.g. brake on straight, accelerate round corners, etc. The nice heavy low-down weight makes it very easy to...

    Highest MPG

Mine is a 2016 model and must have a later firmware! I've noticed a substantial difference in the efficiency and economy of the thing with the warmer weather in my rather sheltered part of England (I live in Suffolk but driving in Essex most of the time). For a start, the ICE doesn't...

    Highest MPG

Fair enough, I'm just looking in a non-scientific way to see what the highest MPG figure people have seen is, beyond infinite when only on EV. Today, I had to go 19.1 miles, 13C, 70mph driving most of the way and tried my best to see what figure I got. The battery drained 1m from the site, the...

    Highest MPG

So, I'm not egotistical enough to think this is anywhere near the high-water mark for MPG but I was thoroughly impressed with getting 157.4mpg out of a 22.5 mile drive today when not trying at all, having ACC, rear demister, stereo on loud with bluetooth, etc. The ICE only really kicked in once...

    Long distance driving

It's not swerving all over the road, it's using the road in a manner that improves safety for everyone. A well judged slide over a broken lane separator line can be for anything from getting your car away from standing water on a pot-holed road to being able to see around a high hedge on a...

    Long distance driving

Thought I'd post an update on the driving efficiency. Starting with an empty battery, I got 287 miles before the refuel alert first came up. That was driving at almost entirely 70mph using cruise control on standard British motorways and dual carriageways. Where we're staying now on holiday...

    Long distance driving

That's the thing though, it's not sloppy driving. The advanced driving course in the UK teaches you to use the maximum amount of road, especially on smaller country roads, when they're free of other road users. For example, you can slide right to get a better view round a left hand turn or cut...

    Long distance driving

Today was my first drive of the car (beyond my test miles). Start 17 miles on the clock, end 125 miles, 108 miles in total today. Start was 1/2 battery and full tank of petrol. Got home and the range left indicator said 189 miles. The outward leg economy indicator had four leaf things...

    Long distance driving

The manufacturer really needs to learn usability lessons in designing interfaces. It really isn't intuitive in the slightest. I'd suggest to them going hiring a Merc, Audi or BMW for a few weeks and plagiarising the best bits of usability from them. My Audi that I'm getting rid of on...

    Long distance driving

So, just got my new car and, having spent some time scanning through the manuals, I'm now convinced that I can improve fuel efficiency by simply leaving the brick of a manual at home ;) I have a 100 mile round trip to do tomorrow so I'll get a decent indication of the economy then.

    Long distance driving

Thanks. I must be going blind in my old age, I looked at that page a few times. I suppose I'll see what I get out of it on the trip. Another question if people don't mind. I have a work colleague who has an Outlander and he says that he likes to fast-charge the car when out having lunch by...

    Long distance driving

Ah, a "pioneer of ultra efficient driving", so not like most people then! Also, that article claims Mitsubishi claims a 512 mile range (albeit on the 2014 model) but I can't find that range anywhere on the Mitsubishi website or brochures. Does anyone know the claimed max mileage for the 2016...

    Long distance driving

Thanks for the comments. That'll take adjustment then as I'm used to my current car doing 600 miles on a tank when I'm not driving aggressively. How did Mitsubishi get 900km out of it then? Did they drive with everything off and at 70km/h?

    Long distance driving

Hi all, Getting my nice new Outlander tomorrow, a bit earlier than planned. A quick question though, I was thinking about taking my new car away with me on holiday this Christmas rather than my old car, after all, why have a new toy and not play with it... I need to do 450 miles to get there...
