    Amateur (Ham) Radio Installation.

I've still not installed my radio- the antenna has proven to be a sticking point for me to. I've just about decided that cross bars are the only option. Thule make some low profile ones for the Outlander. They look similar to the OEM ones but lower and black- ideal for my black vehicle. 73...

    Spark Plug access.

Thank you. I suspect what I saw on the front of the engine wasn't the plugs. I could see something which looked like a it may be a plug for a coil pack in that area. However, I also have a large air filter on top of the engine which, I suspect if I removed it, I'd expose the plugs. Oil...

    Spark Plug access.

I agree with your observations re the need for attention but basic oil changes etc. should be ok. (Although we will probably replace the car once the warranty is done.) As for the Allegro, I was thinking of a bit of tinkering from time to time, not spending the rest of my life in the garage ;-)

    USB for music

As others have commented, between the seats, in the storage 'box'. I've found the USB far easier to use, in terms of simply loading files onto it in directories/folders, far better than the SD card. I bought a 32GB Sandisk USB drive, one of those which is little larger than the plug. I...

    Spark Plug access.

My PHEV is only a few months old and I have a 'service package' to I won't need to remove the plugs etc myself for some years. However, while checking the oil, coolant etc today, I decided to check access to the plugs. I THINK I've found them, on the 'front' side of the engine. However...

    Charge Timer via MMCS?

I've searched the MMCS for a menu to control/set etc the charge timer in the MMCS. As far as I can tell, there isn't one- which seems a huge omission, not everyone has a 'smartphone'. My issue is I have an Android phone and, having tried numerous 'fixes', I can't get it to register with the...

    Android Remote App Problems

I've just 'converted' to an Android, a Moto G5S. I had (well still have) the Remote App for the PHEV working on my iPhone but, after repeated attempts, the G5S will not register. I can connect to the vehicle Wifi. I can get 'into' the registration mode fine. However, the app will not...

Access to 12V battery and 12V acc socket in boot?

We've just ordered a 4H in the UK. I plan to fit an amateur radio transceiver in the boot and need to connect to the 12V battery. I noticed there was a small 'flap' which allowed access to one terminal but how do I access the other one, please? (I assume the one I could see was -ve / ground...

    Towbar Harness ?

We've just ordered a 4H. I plan to fit a amateur radio transceiver in the boot, in the area under the floor by the battery. I want to run power from the 12V battery via a relay controlled by the ignition. On idea to get a switched 12V, which only needs to power a relay (so low current), is...

    Amateur (Ham) Radio Installation.

Thank you for your responses. Can I ask where and how you've mounted the head (front panel) unit of your radio, please? 73 Brian

    Amateur (Ham) Radio Installation.

Thank you. I was only planning on running under 50W, if that- I generally run 25W or so. I assume there isn't a conventional starter motor then and, if the main (traction) batteries are discharged you can't start the car? That is rather 'disappointing', we did consider a Tesla but dismissed it...

    Amateur (Ham) Radio Installation.

Surely the 12V battery has a reasonable capacity and there is a conventional alternator to recharge it? With the transceiver wired to the battery (via a relay and fused of course), would you still expect issues? I wouldn't run a transceiver from a normal accessory socket. 73 Brian

    Amateur (Ham) Radio Installation.

We are planning to buy an Outlander in the near future and I'm already considering the essential topic of installing an amateur radio transceiver- probably either my IC2725 (currently installed in our CRV) or my Kenwood TM-V71 or perhaps a Wouxun Quad bander. Which ever I decide on, it will be...
