The filter design doesn't seem to be a huge engineering work, though I do see from your article that the intake housing and cover does have sound level/noise in mind at times. I am gonna see if the air filter housing can be swapped out.

Batteries will discharge slowly, though the Lithium batteries have much lower self discharging rate. It's just the way how the batteries work. Energizer or Duracells do discharge to non useable after 3-5years.

Bought a set of wheels from a wrecker in Detroit for $400USD. I had to go pick them up (4-wheels). It wss from a 2017 Outlander. Not PHEV but they are direct fit. It's not EU but i hope this helps.

It was straight forward on mine. About 30 min. I did it last summer so I may not recall much, but it may mave been a biy tricky on driver's side but it wasn't that hard. Just needed 2 wrench to tighten it.
