The rear seats could be added, but it's the rear seat's leg room that is an issue. The electric motor and components is in the footwell for the 3rd row seat.

Sounds like the Outlander PHEV placed 17th overall, out of 20 entries. Not the best, but it proves the reliability of the PHEV drivetrain since there were no breakdowns or issues over the 2000 km, 6 day race!
