Looking for an educated review of Outlander PHEV

It seems that the Outlander PHEV has been in people's hands around the world for at least a little bit, now. I have yet to see an educated review of the performance and other comparisons to PHEVs on the market. I realize that it is the only PHEV SUV out, but even still, a point by point...

Mitsubishi claims up to 148mpg for Outlander PHEV

No kidding... On my Plug-in Prius, which is rated at 95 MPGe, my MPG per tank has been: 80MPG 80MPG 120MPG 120MPG 101MPG 105MPG 102MPG and my current tank, at 365 miles so far: 136MPG Totally depends on your ability to fit your trips into the electric range or not. My tanks with low mpg had...

    PHEV production restarting

I concur... if Mitsubishi waits too long, someone is going to do an unexpected release of their own PHEV SUV... GM could sneak in a Volt SUV variant, Ford can slam a PHEV into the Escape, Toyota usually takes more time, so I doubt they will do anything so dramatic anytime soon... Honda has been...

    PHEV versus Diesel

I have owned 7 diesel cars in the US, and loved each one. Nothing quite compares to the torque and HP of a turbo diesel, along with great freeway MPG. That being said, there are reasons why my last car was a hybrid gas, and my current car is a plug-in hybrid gas car: 1) My driving habits suit...

    Phev orders

Are you suggesting that the Lexus RX is coming out in a plug-in hybrid? If so, please quote your source! that would be awesome! If you are saying the RX is coming in a hybrid... it is already here.. has been since 2005. There are hybrid SUVs out there, but none (as far as I know) are plug-ins.

    Mitsubishi Outlander SUV sips 1.6L/100km

Ahhh... here it is, at least in the Dutch brochure, listed as "Branstofverbruik in hybride modus (gecombineerd) 5.8 l/100km" http://www.mitsubishi-motors.nl/uploadedFiles/Parent_Site/General_Contents/Outlander%20PHEV%208%20Leaflet%20low%20pix.pdf Which converts to 40.55 mpg in hybrid mode.

    Mitsubishi Outlander SUV sips 1.6L/100km

What is the efficiency AFTER the battery runs out? In my Plug-in Prius, which only goes 11 miles on a charge, I still get 50mpg.

Cargo Space in the 2014 Outlander PHEV

Here is a review of the gas version, with numbers quoted for space behind each row of seats. Keep in mind the PHEV has only two rows: "The Outlander's got plenty of cargo space past its nifty flap-fold access gate, which has a lower tailgate portion that folds down for a flat loading floor...

Cargo Space in the 2014 Outlander PHEV

Several sites are reporting the PHEV cargo area behind the rear seats as being 463 liters, which I find to be a very dubious number... that would translate to 16.35 cubic feet, a number which puts it as a smaller space than either a Plug-in Prius at 20.6 cu ft or C-Max Energi at 19.5 cu ft. I...

Mitsubishi halts production of PHEV Outlander and i-MiEV

Battery problems... fires... http://green.autoblog.com/2013/03/29/mitsubishi-halts-production-of-i-miev-outlander-phev-after-two/ Last week was a rough one for Mitsubishi and its efforts to broaden its appeal among potential plug-in vehicle buyers. Two fires caused the Japanese automaker to...

    Resistive heat, or ICE dependent?

Whoa! Now that would make sense! A heater that can be programmed or remotely activated while charging on AC, AND a ICE based heater while driving, since, as others have pointed out, a resistive heater would chew up your drive battery in a real hurry!

Been out there over a month... test drive review?

All manufacturers use test mules, and they may be very similar, or very different from the actual production model... it is totally variable. Sometimes the mule is the previous year's model, with the upcoming model year's key changes implemented. Sometimes the specs are different. In the cas of...

Been out there over a month... test drive review?

I think that youtube video is a review of the standard Outlander, not the PHEV version. Also, I am nervous about using a review of a test mule version, since production versions may have very important differences.

    PHEV kWh comparisons

Good point... Is that total kWh, or usable?

    Would you recommend Outlander PHEV?

oops, one more important factor... hills! If you drive in hilly areas, versus flat, it affects your electric range greatly.

    PHEV kWh comparisons

Here's the main battery kWh comparisons of the plug-in hybrids in the US. Keep in mind that these numbers may refer to full capacity, not necessarily the usable capacity. Please correct me if I am in err: 2013 Chevy Volt = 16kWh 2013 Ford Fusion Energi = 7.6kWh 2013 Ford C-Max Energi = 7.6kWh...

    Would you recommend Outlander PHEV?

Can I recommend it? LOL... No one here has driven the vehicle yet; All we have heard reviews about, are pre-production test vehicles, so... I have to say, "no idea yet!" It looks good to me, on paper, except for (IMHO), the lack of a resistive heater, which forces occupants to run the ICE if...

Been out there over a month... test drive review?

Right... and surely someone here is bi-lingual? Actually, if someone can just find an article, Google translate service can do well enough for us to get an idea of how well it performs.

    Resistive heat, or ICE dependent?

Fromt he Google translation, I seems that the heater for occupants my use the ICE. Bummers.
