My spare tyre solution. with photo's.

Also important with a PHEV is the all-wheel-drive system which gets stroppy if an odd tyre of a different brand and/or state of wear is fitted. What kind of reaction will a tyre/wheel combination of different width as well as brand and effective diameter incur? Will the car simply refuse to...

Return to EV mode after gas engine starts

I'm not sure that five minutes is long enough to allow the engine to reach a steady state temperature and to drive off any water vapour in the oil or the exhaust system. Corrosion causing failure of the exhaust downstream of the catalytic converter seems to be a regular occurrence here in UK and...

Thank you, I had feared that it might be emasculated by compromise.

    ICE on in 2023

Slightly off-topic, does the new Outlander based on a similar platform as a Nissan PHEV still feature the GKN transmission system used in all the earlier models? It was one of the things that clinched my choice of car as being the Outlander PHEV - 2020 Dynamic in my case.

Circumstances when the ICE comes on?

The winters here in the south of England are mild by Canadian standards, but we do have frosty days. I have found that I can avoid ICE start in my 2020 Dynamic by not using the global screen clear/defrost option. Because I have an off road parking place I can plug the car in to charge, set the...

Lemon or WTF holy crap what a story broken outlande 2022 with 6600 milesr purchase used

If that happened to me in UK I would asking for a refund for misrepresenting the car in the first instance. Is there some consumer protection law in your part of the world that protects buyers from being sold a 'lemon'?

Gas struts for the bonnet (hood)

Several eBay sellers offer these but I was wondering whether any forum members had made this modification. My son did it on his Honda S2000 and it was easy and very worthwhile. Having had several cars in recent years that had gas struts as original fittings, I find their absence on a car costing...

Stays in Series mode at 70mph

I've had mine for only about six weeks and yesterday was the first time I had to use a motorway. Up at the legal maximum on an undulating motorway with fairly low charge level, mine dropped into what appeared to be pure parallel mode inasmuch as the graphic with the three components shown had...

Fuel economy at highway speed phev vs ice model

Weight (mass) is pertinent when accelerating or hill climbing, of course, and it may affect rolling resistance. The last factor is largely dealt with by higher tyre pressures. It's an education to one such as myself whose driving life has hitherto been exclusively ICE just how much weather and...
