I can't answer your question, so I'll answer another one.

Do not tow your Outlander PHEV.

All wheels must be isolated from the ground, i.e. flat bed truck, winched up on to a trailer, or towed on dollies so that the car wheels do not touch the ground while towing.

I believe that the electric motors would be destroyed if the vehicle is towed with the wheels being forced to rotate.

You can't.
It is an artificial neutral and power has to be supplied to el. motors to simulate it.

It's not an artificial neutral. Park has an electromechanical interlock on the mechanical transmission. Once that is powered, the transmission is free to rotate

Yes, but el. motors are not really free to rotate.
Just to move the vehicle by pushing it yea, otherwise it needs power.
