Re: Servicing cost

Since the warranty on ours expired, I've dropped back to oil-change services - which Halfords are prepared to do at a couple of hundred quid a time.

Anyone tried a ROAV Viva in a PHEV?

I'm a great fan of Alexa and have just received an email promoting the ROAV Viva which is an Alexa designed to go in cars. Not particularly expensive, and I could just get one in the hope that it works, but it would be nice to hear from someone else that has already tried it!

Re: Camping/sleeping in the PHEV?

It certainly would not be my first choice of car to sleep in.

Re: Battery degradation petition

I'm not familiar with the cases of real degradation. But in most cases a perceived degradation is caused by faulty BMU s/w. With as result that the electric range is deminished unnecessarily, resulting in driving more on gas than expected. Particuarly the 2018/2019 models seem to degrade fast. That...

Re: Battery degradation petition

Having read the petition and watched the video, I remain unclear as to what they believe the problem is and what solution they are hoping for. I got the impression that the thrust of the petition is simply that the firmware is overestimating the degradation and that the battery is actually wearing q...

Re: Mysterious beeping

Ours suddenly developed a strange pattern of beeps on significant acceleration or deceleration - had me really puzzled. Then, a few days later, I was loading shopping into the back, moved a bag that I had put in there the previosu week and got exactly the same pattern. I looked inside and discovered...

Re: Ridiculous feathering of front tyres

Our original set of tyres made it to close to 50,000 miles - they were getting close to bald, but the wear pattern was pretty even across the tred.

Re: New London Ultra Low Emission Zone

In fairness to TfL, their web site states that all petrol propelled cars built since 2005 are exempt!

Re: What should I do on a motorway for max MPG

The 50-odd thousand miles on our PHEV has been almost entirely motorway and I've experimented with a range of strategies - the only thing that makes any significant difference (that is under your control) is your speed. Factors like temperature and wind will make a big difference, but you can't cont...

Re: Charging from type 2

I've now charged successfully from a tethered type 2 (installed for my son's BMW) using an adaptor and at Asda via a type 2 to type 1 cable. I have however failed at a Tesla destination charger which claims to be available to any EV. The common factor in all my failures is Tesla - even though all t...
