Re: "EV system service required" error

Rapid charging is notorious for peculiar issues. However, remember you also have a computer on wheels here. So just like an ordinary PC, you sometimes get lockup and stray messages but a restart usually clears the problem and you don't think any more of it. Therefore, if the car is working normally ...

Re: D-Method on really stubborn cars or the A-Method :)

He says that he only gets the 30 miles after the "reset". When he next charges it he gets "22". So, it may be that whatever he is doing merely deletes the range history. So the guessometer reverts to the original 30 rather than he is drawing that amount of energy - he still hasn'...

Re: D-Method on really stubborn cars or the A-Method :)

Yes, but what actual EV mileage do you get after your "reset" rather than what the guessometer promises? BTW if the car has done all of the 16/20k in EV then it will have still aged the battery by about 400 full cycles i.e. used up a fifth of its overall life. So, 22 miles doesn't seem unr...

Re: "EV System Service Required and degraded performance

I would also suggest replacing your dealer with one that doesn't recommend swapping out the most expensive part of the car at a cost greater than its value because they are too lazy, greedy or stupid to do their job!

Re: Dusk sensing headlamps

Just to be clear - if you have a basic Gx3h, without the large central info screen, then only a dealer can adjust or check the settings.

Re: front motor coolant CVT oil change

I don't know where you got your info from but my owner's handbook, service schedule from 2014 has the front motor lubricant as a lifetime product with the rear one to be replaced after 20 years. Yearly "inspection" yes but no annual "change". Also, fluid volume is given as 2.2 li...

Re: Plug in battery drains overnight for some reason

24 is better than I'm getting on my '64 plate but battery condition varies according to the number of full charging cycles (about 2000 over its lifetime). As you don't know, with a second-hand car, the mix of ICE to EV driving, mileage is of no help. I still think it is a timer problem, as the whole...

Re: Plug in battery drains overnight for some reason

Unlikely to be just ambient temperature in the UK yet. However, the charging procedure seems unusual given that a full domestic charge is going to take over 3 hours at least - why disconnect and then lock the car. I plug in when it is already locked and then leave overnight and never noticed a less ...

Re: Dusk sensing headlamps

Are you saying that it used to work or that this is a newly acquired vehicle?

Also, you refer to it as a "dusk sensor" - does it work when it is properly dark i.e. night-time?

Re: Charging cable show FAULT

The most common faults are poor connection inside the box where the cable enters - too much bending, especially with an older car - plus the contact switch on the plug that goes into the car's charging port has got bent slightly. Otherwise, you can check it is not the car itself by using another cha...
