Re: Has anybody converted a PHEV in to a fully BEV?

Really - you take out the engine and it doesn't change the weight distribution? Also the roof rack is designed to take quite a lot of weight (without changing weight distribution  ) - I don't know the figures off hand, but if you have solved the other problems, it is "free" space for extra batt...

Re: Battery Charge/Save Buttons

I assume you are referring to the guessometer. If so, then I have also noticed this, although mainly where there is obvious coasting, i.e. "free" miles. If you are driving at around 30mph there is likely to be quite a lot of short stretches of coasting on overrun which you wouldn't necessarily notic...

Re: Goodbye everyone

I'll say au revoir rather than goodbye because with Sadiq's re-election here in Lundun the loss of the exemption from the Congestion Charge for hybrids in October is now a certainty (as is probably the zone extension outwards) so I am seriously thinking of also going full electric. Therefore, our pa...

Re: Has anybody converted a PHEV in to a fully BEV?

Its not only the cost of the batteries and changing out a lot of the electronics but you would have to redesign and modify the suspension due to the change in weight distribution - which would certainly mean that insurance would be almost impossible to obtain for normal road use. A better route migh...

Re: Battery Charge/Save Buttons

No offence intended ThudnBlundr - as typed it was directed at Trex, who like me has been around since the early days when the car was very much an unknown for everyone. Buried in the archives are lots of graphs and other stats, which might help answer your question, like the one he dug out but, I ac...

Re: Battery Charge/Save Buttons

G'day Trex - nice to have some clarity on this from "the old days". ;)

You'd think after 7 years of discussion that this subject might have died a death but too many newbies.

Glad to see "down under" on the new UK travel green list, even you won't let us in yet!

Re: Who are you?

Welcome syzmon - just to comment on #4 Like you I live in London and commute in to the centre regularly. Note that you can park in Westminster Council's on-street bays for 4 hours at a time by just paying the minimum 10 minute charge e.g. 87p around Aldwych. Also you can get exemption from the Conge...

Re: Ran out of gas but depleted battery got me home

Even if you use the windfarm approach of lots of micro energy turbines?

Re: Ran out of gas but depleted battery got me home

And presumably you could get G-d to do the initial heavy lifting by installing water turbines into rivers?
