Re: Replacement 12v battery

I don't think the 12v battery is charged when the car (drive battery) is plugged in. Instead it seems to charge like any normal ICE car, when the petrol engine is running. Wrong. There is no 12V alternator on the ICE, it's only charged by DC-DC converter off the drive battery when in Ready mode, wh...

Re: Private sale 4h or dealer 4hs?

I was in a very similar situation, choosing between a 4H and a 4HS with about £1.5k price difference - 2017 on a 66 plate so that you pay no road tax! Ended up going for the 4H as the previous owner had already installed a towbar (use it for my bike carrier) so figured that was an even greater cost ...

Re: Replacement 12v battery

Question to the forum: From what I understand the 12V battery should be charged whilst its plugged in, so is it fair to assume that if it has gone flat anyway that it will need replacing ? I don't think the 12v battery is charged when the car (drive battery) is plugged in. Instead it seems to charg...

For those in the UK, Richi (maintainer of the FAQ) also maintains an Amazon shop with PHEV necessities, including batteries: https://www.amazon.co.uk/shop/richi
Thanks for the link. I'll use it to get some replacement wipers

Not sure as mine was fitted before I got the car, seems like you need a wiring kit

Lots of details & photos about towbar fitting in this post

Replacement 12v battery

I've only had my Outlander for a few months, is a 2017 with about 40,000 miles on the clock. Today it was freezing, so I tried to switch on the heater using my mobile. WiFi wouldn't connect so I went out to the car to do it manually. Doors opened ok, but when I pressed the start button I got loads o...

Re: Differences between 2016-2018 models

Thanks both for the info. I've had a few hybrids, so I'm used to them managing electric & ice. The Mrs has a full ev (company car) which is great but too expensive (personal car) for me & I like knowing I can do an occasional long trip without stopping to recharge. I would like to be able to do a sh...

Re: Differences between 2016-2018 models

Thanks Richard

Can the GX3h+ drive in pure ev mode?

Pleased to say that my 30k miles per annum days are over so hope to do better mpg

Still looking for the right car, hopefully one will turn up in next month as that's when my next service is due
