Re: New front discs at 34,000 miles? (55,000 km in new money)

If you drive sensibly, the car doesn't need to use the physical disks much for slowing except when the battery is full. It could be that lack of use caused corrosion to build-up, and that is not good for longevity. The last few mph before coming to a stop also uses the physical brakes which is enou...

Re: Tyres - winter and summer - or not. A review.

Having only used my Winters once in anger to get me off a snow bound French motorway which was jammed with stranded locals, I would never want to use anything else at this time of year. Frankly having paid almost £30k for a car, a few hundred extra for additional wheels & tyres is neither here nor ...

Re: Tyres - winter and summer - or not. A review.

The real cost of tyres is when you crash because you can't stop when you have the wrong ones. For that reason alone, I'll stick with proper winters, thanks.

Re: WiFi disable setting when vehicle is ON

No, it's App version related You are possibly not seeing it as you are not connected to the Vehicle when looking for it. The App has to be connected.

Re: Burning smell, loss if battery, return car?

Definitely looks like a heating/demist/cooling timer. Even if you do not see it in the display, it can be there in the background and visible on the App. Probably your best bet is to follow the procedure to reset the WiFi module as you'll probably want to do that anyway to register your phone and un...

Picking up from a different thread, is it possible to programme the MMCS to turn off heating?
Huh? It's possible to program in a timed session (start at hh:mm for x minutes, where x = 10, 20 or 30), but that's all. Meant for pre-heat, pre-demist or pre-cool.

Re: Front shock dust cover bellows shredded

Standard. "They all do that Sir". I personally wouldn't bother as the new ones will only go the same way in a short space of time.

If I did, I'd probably slice them along their length and slide them on and superglue back together rather than go to the hassle of removing top mount etc.

Re: Remote app

the new app must be used. don't know what version of android it needs though. that error can be that you have not got the connection right, i.e. you have not disconnected from other wifi networks and have not turned off mobile data.

Re: Slight squeal from rear

How do you link "cheap rubbish" to "French"? Rather insulting and xenophobic, wouldn't you say? By being a professional engineer in the automotive business at a Tier 1 supplier for 12 years. Not xenophobic, possibly insulting, but factual. Can you say that the brake calipers used on the Outlander w...

Re: Slight squeal from rear

I seem to have lost my 'signature' which gave the model details, but it's a 2016 'face lift' bought in Dec 2015. So still covered by the 5-year warranty. My mistake, the signature is there, just in small grey print. My mistake, I see it now. Yes it's covered by warranty and you'll probably find tha...
