Thanks for this. Probably i will just pull the relay when needed, rather than going to the extent of wiring in a switch.
👍 Go with that. I was doing it while waiting for parts delivery.
Now I'm skipping the part of opening the hood in a harsh winter conditions. 8-)

Re: Can you run the air conditioner without running the engine?

Yes, you can. Both A/C and heater.
With the heater is much more tricky not to wake up the ICE. The A/C no problem at all until the battery is depleted.

Re: Did Mitsu confuse "Save" Mode and "Charge" Mode Above 78 mph (125 km/h)?

Save mode does cycle the battery, but haven't you noticed how the hysteresis cycle is much smaller in Save mode than it is in Normal mode, when you have a depleted battery and it's down to 1 bar? Save mode actually prefers series mode much more than Normal mode , and tries to generate electricity a...

Re: ICE running - does pressing CHRG do anything?

Basically Save is intermittent Charge. Were Save is engaging and disengaging the engine on order to keep the battery at constant level, whereas Charge is keeping the engine constantly on until the battery is charged up to ~80%. The goal is to know in which driving conditions the engine can be used m...

Re: Did Mitsu confuse "Save" Mode and "Charge" Mode Above 78 mph (125 km/h)?

Littlescrote, he is saying exactly the opposite. He is complaining that in very high speed the SAVE is constantly charging the battery. I can't confirm STS134 findings since never had the urge or necessity to push it over 125mk/h but probably over the observed threshold the engine produce excessive...

Re: Electric range of 2017 Outlander PHEV

One of the problems with looking at range and ambient temperature, as above, is that after a night of lower temperatures (especially if parked in the open) the battery will remain well below air temperature for several hours - and "wind chill" when driving is unlikely to help. It is the battery tem...

Re: Electric range of 2017 Outlander PHEV

Really? I wonder why your computer bothers with a fan then. Yep, really. My computer bothers with a fan in order to get the CPU temp. closer to the ambient one. Not to magically declare the CPU temp. 10 degree below surrounding air temp. The wind "chill" will only change the rate - speed of h...

Same here. Colder it is longer it takes for parallel to kick in.

Re: Pure Electric Vehicle Mod - Hack. Stop ICE (engine) kick-in (heating acceleration & cold).

If ICE power is required the vehicle should be stopped, turned off and on again with Modification disabled.) While I usually like mods I would not recommend this to anybody for above reason. Are you sure the vehicle has to be turned off to enable the relay again? BTW this vehicle is not advertised ...
