Re: Pre-Heating

I then set a schedule for pre-heating at 7:40am. It then seemed to successfully 'send' the schedule which I am presuming went into the car's memory. However, when I came to the car this morning it was not heating at all. Does the phone need to be near it for it to work? I presumed when connected an...

Re: Outlander PHEV 2020 fuel consumption

The deal is in Save mode most of the time the engine stays in series mode while in Charge it stays in parallel. That was never the case for our PHEV, 2020 EU model. It would stay parallel over 70 km/h. 90% of the time no matter Normal, Save, Charge. Heavy pedal could bring it to series mode, but ag...

Re: Using my engine to charge the Battery v Home CharedEV

Good Morning All. Last Friday I drove from Dorset to North East Hampshire. I used the engine to charge the battery and over the journey I charged my batteries uo to give me 29 miles of battery range. When I use my ChargedEV charger I can only change the battery to give me 21 or occasion 22 miles. I...

Re: Outlander PHEV 2020 fuel consumption

To continue from your link: With the Battery Save Mode on, it forces the engine to turn on and stops using the battery, which conserves it. This mode is most efficient for use on the highway, as gasoline is most efficient. So, honestly, I'm really not all that sure about this stuff :) I just know t...

Re: Outlander PHEV 2020 fuel consumption

There really is no reason to use CHARGE mode unless you think you'll be needing some extra electric when going up a steep hill with load. Generally, it's an expensive way to drive. When going on trips which will use more than the battery capacity, I use SAVE mode after getting to about 1/2 battery....

Re: Outlander PHEV 2020 fuel consumption

First, fuel consumption in "hybrid" mode is vastly individual and depends of multiple factors. Fuel consumption should be measured in 100% parallel mode in order to be comparable from vehicle to vehicle. 7.6L/100km in speeds over 100km/h is not high consumption. Second, how did you measure...

Re: E85/Ethanol compatibility ??

I am not sure that the BMU will relearn over time & distance. Maybe when it's little bit too late and the battery degrade a lot. DBCAM is not hard to do and there are few write ups that explain it step by step. It is 10 minute job beside the following full charge. Without MUT-3 it can't be done ...

Re: BMU Reset after DIY high voltage battery swap.(need help)

For sure there is a BMU reset to be done following by DBCAM.
If you want to to it by yourself an OBD-II wired adapter, MUT-III soft + purchased driver need to be used.
All will come to about 100usd.

Re: Why is the level 2 charging time so slow?

It is not only to keep the cost down.
Fast charging those batteries doesn't bode well with them and their state of health.

Re: Engine noise but no warning lights

One can basically drive the cat without an engine, so no concern there even if it trows some errors.

Regarding the engine it will be hard to tell over the internet some experienced mechanic should hear it.
