I think it's worth providing more details on that in a separate topic. I'm interested in this.

Re: Fuel economy at highway speed phev vs ice model

So far I've concluded that the presence of a transmission is more efficient in transferring power than the ICE acting as a generator for the battery and then transferring to the motor(s). The presence of a transmission also aids the RAV4 PHEV in the ability to go into parallel mode more often than ...

Re: Bigger Tire Size

I used Vredestein Wintrac on my Petrol Outlander and plan to fit them on my PHEV next winter. I can recommend those, although they were using the factory-recommended size.

Re: Avon ZX7 Tyres - A Salutory Lesson

Except that CCs have the 3-Alp symbol and so are certified for use in the Alps in winter (and elsewhere that requires that symbol) Wasn't aware of that, but these certificates might help you abolish the fine in court, I doubt the police will care much about the symbol if you are not with winter tir...

Re: Burning rubber smell from rear or Vehicle when in charge setting.

The burning rubber smell is due to the non-optimal exhaust placement and usually happens when you run for a long time in charge mode.

What happens is the right-back tire throws up road debris and rubber onto the exhaust.

with 4WD Lock always on except when going uphill Any reason why you do NOT use the 4WD Lock when going uphill? The maximum traction on the back tyres will be most efficient exactly in this scenario. What I'm trying to say is that, you should ALWAYS use the 4WD Lock. According to numerous owners of ...

Re: Grey Importing the new PHEV into the UK / Europe

I had a test drive on the new Outlander's petrol version in October 2022 and talked with the salespeople.

There's no way they are not going to import it into their most successful market, meaning Europe.

They recently released the model in China as well.

Re: Does the 2016+ 4hs/5hs have Traffic Jam Assist?

I think even the 2020 model will deactivate the ACC when coming to a complete stop and require you to put your leg on the brake pedal.

I had a 2020 petrol and it worked like that, I would be surprised if the PHEV has a different ACC.

Re: Avon ZX7 Tyres - A Salutory Lesson

We drove to the Alps and the Dolomites twice last year, and are off to the Pyrenees and Alps this year. Our all-weather CrossClimates did us proud last year and I expect them to do the same this year. We did try winter tyres on a previous car, but the cost and hassle of switching them over twice a ...
