Re: TPMS Registration

A decent tire shop may have compatible equipment, but it's by no means a certainty. Most likely a dealer job. Once it's done once, you can switch between set 1 and set 2 yourself when you change over from summer to winter and vice versa.

Re: Replacement 12v battery

If you don't have a device registered to the WiFi module, it will go to sleep and not initiate the daily 14:00 Aux battery charging schedule.

Re: Replacement 12v battery

I don't think the 12v battery is charged when the car (drive battery) is plugged in. Instead it seems to charge like any normal ICE car, when the petrol engine is running. Wrong. There is no 12V alternator on the ICE, it's only charged by DC-DC converter off the drive battery when in Ready mode, wh...

Re: Can we clear up Serial vs Parallel drive?

Rather than trying to measure it in a completely unscientific way, just think about it. There are 2 options to generate enough power to make the car move at a given speed against the wind and rolling resistance: 1) Series mode where an engine drives a generator that drives a motor to turn the 'axle'...

Re: Can we clear up Serial vs Parallel drive?

you're being overly worried about nothing. the engineers knew what they were doing when they programmed it. the engine really doesn't rev very high, nowhere near what you might rev it to in a manual, and as it's the same basis of engine to the Lancer Evolution models, it's a well proven unit. the cy...

Re: So I went to see this outlander today…

All looks perfectly normal and you're being overly fussy. You're paying for the tech in this car, not the surface finish. If it has blue puddle lights it's a 5H, possibly a 5HS. I would go for a 4HS or 5HS as the S makes insurance cheaper as it has collision detection etc. blue leds in the puddle li...

Are you sure that electricity costs you 1$/kWh ?
he's probably sure that it doesn't, it's just that by setting it to a unit of 1, you have an easy way to see how many kWh have been charged without having to do any maths.

Re: Idea to stop ICE from starting when cold

Don't discount the notion that the PHEV is different in Canada. Each market has its individual model based on some superficial issues such as colour or trim (UK cars generally need sun roofs and Aircon because of perceived buyer demand) or practical features such as sump heaters in Finland. Mitsu a...

Re: Idea to stop ICE from starting when cold

(a) not sure about your model but our UK 2020, if you leave the heating in OFF mode it cannot work remotely or be heated using the mains. I think you're mistaken as I've just downloaded the 2020 manual and there is nothing in the heating section that says anything even remotely like that. Neither i...

Re: Idea to stop ICE from starting when cold

However, the issue with the ICE starting up from cold, (a) if I switch the heating to OFF I cannot preheat the PHEV off the mains, Why not? The timed heating/cooling/demist functions set the blower, flaps, heater etc to achieve their function, regardless of where you left the HVAC settings when you...
