Re: Fogging of windows

The matrix I replaced in my 1998 Jeep was actually almost identical in appearance to the matrix in my 1963 MGB. A small radiator with two pipes sticking out of it. I expect the PHEV heater matrix has a very similar apperance. You'd have thought after 50 years of basically the same item performing th...

Re: Fogging of windows

The time it took me to replace the heater matrix in my 1998 Jeep was measured in days rather than hours. Most of the front interior had to come out, air bags deactivated, steering wheel removed and entire dashboard. Then the poxy heater matrix/raditor/heat exchanger/element - what ever you wish to c...

Re: Fogging of windows

This is odd - my 2014 GX4h has no condensation problems at all. It's been variously parked in a garage and outside over the last 3 years. As previously mentioned by karl, the only time I've ever had a problem with this is when a heater element (a small radiator located usually under the dashboard in...

Re: Outlander vs Speedhumps and potholes

I don't think the PHEV's ride quality is that bad. Can't say I ever think about poor ride quality when I'm driving it - although most likely the more expensive and better quality tyres you have the better it feels. My winter Pirellis ride a lot nicer than the standard summer R37 Toyos. Not even remo...

Re: Recall Letter Recieved!

See 'Parking brake UK recall' for one part of this - I had the the spark plugs and ECU recall abut 2 years ago on my 2014 GX4h. Not had anything about the wiper links though - there was an issue and recall with earlier (pre-PHEV generation) Outlanders having rusting ball joints within the wiper mech...

Re: Winter tyres 16 vs 18

I've put rain tyres on my wife's Slk and can't help feeling that's more appropriate for the PHEV too. I wonder if they'd perform any better in the snow I didn't know that rain tyres even existed! But they do! So how do you know if you're going to need them? I'm guessing it's based on the idea that ...

Re: Winter Tires and rims for 2018 Outlander PHEV SE

The tire shop originally quoted $300 for TPMS sensors, but then they came back and said they had to get special Mitsubishi sensors and it would be $900 for them! I dislike warning indicators but for that much I'll look the other way. $900 - that's rather expensive - I paid £130 UK pounds ($220) for...

Re: A whole new kind of 'bing-bong'

Well so there is... I've never noticed this before (had to look it up in the owner's manual - section 6-21). I must have suffered brainfade and was thrown by the 1-2 options. There is though a turn-signal type graphic in front of these options, not in fact a tyre pressure graphic. I thought for some...

A whole new kind of 'bing-bong'

Very strange thing happened today - I've just fitted my winter wheels and tyres (as you do in Scotland in November), switched over the TPMS tyre valve sensor in to position '2', and all works ok. But now, when I use the turn signals I get a 'bing-bong...bing-bong' in time with the turn signal flashi...

Re: Parking Brake Mechanism UK Recall...

And it finally happened! Me of little faith... Two splendid new rear calipers. The one on the passenger side (UK RHD) has a red blob of paint on it and the one on the driver's side has a blue blob of paint on it. Here are some pictures...
