Re: ABS, RBS, EV system, ASC system service required

Thanks for the responses. Checked the battery connection, the black terminal nice and tight and looks fine. Can't see the red terminal, guess I'd need to strip out the boot liner. Using my multi-meter on the charge point and the chassis under the bonnet I'm reading 12.8V so must be ok. Not tried di...

Re: Fuel economy on the motorway

Do you really trust an article that begins by "an engine that is mated to an automatic transmission" which does not exist... :? ? Falsus in uno, falsus in omnibus. :ugeek: The figures in the article are for the newest type, which has a tweaked drive train, and, I can attest, is a different feeling c...

Re: Fuel economy on the motorway

Yes, that is about the long and short of it. You are driving a two-tonne car with a Cw value that is about the same as Canterbury Cathedral and a considerable front surface using a petrol engine at speed. Most of us do a bit better, but you are not quite used to the car yet. I usually get about 10-9...

Re: 2018 Canadian PHEV wont run in ev.

With due respect to jaapv his reply is misleading. The car can run on EV under 10c - I do it every day in Winter - but it is at the expense of cabin heating i.e. I have to have the internal temperature set to minimum (and wear a thick & gloves  ). The "problem" is that the car is designed to r...

Re: 2018 Canadian PHEV wont run in ev.

If you run the car until everything has heated up, or after keeping the car in a heated garage, does it do EV then? This is basically normal behaviour. Under 10º the ICE will start up and run for a few kms to heat up the engine to prevent further deep cold starts at high revs and to provide initial ...

First let's get the Duh causes out of the way: Is the volume turned up?

Re: 2018 Canadian PHEV wont run in ev.

I don't really know about the later models (yet ;) ) but at low temperatures under 10º C the car will start the ICE to provide cabin heating.

Re: Dealer won't provide battery capacity

I guess that this is inexperience. Over here ( a small country with 17 million inhabitants), there are about 50.000 on the road. The average dealer has hundreds on their book, so they are far better equipped to handle such requests.

Re: Dealer won't provide battery capacity

Although that is technically true, that is not what is needed. A dealer selling a car can - and should -- provide a battery condition report. That is a simple procedure, and is done routinely with every service over here, although it is normally not reported to the customer, except on request.

Re: Dealer won't provide battery capacity

Walk away - if they won't accommodate you, what else are they hiding? I was on the market for a new pre-loved car. My trusted dealer found a beautiful example on auction for me, and returned it the next day for a refund. After partly dismantling it they found welds in structural parts; the car had b...
