Re: Heat

In my 2020 us model, my ice never starts even in cold weather unless i turn the heat on, or maybe if the SOC isVery low. If it's not too cold out, I can put the heat on low and the engine will not start. But what I can't seem to figure is when the ice warms up, I don't get an indication that the ev ...

Re: Heat

So, the more I read about the heat, it seems heat from the ICE is never directly used to heat the cabin. I'd this correct? Can someone explain this a bit better?

Is it a resistance heater or a heat pump?

Sometimes I do the same. I live less than two miles from work. It really doesn't even pay to turn it on.

Heat

Us model, 2020 Looking if anyone can provide technical information about heat usage, most economical way. I find using the traction battery to heat the cabin wasteful. I tend to trigger the ICE to heat it up, then lower the heat settings to a minimum. Does anyone have tips to conserve battery? Does ...

Re: Auxiliary battery pack to add a little EV range

I was thinking of a suitcase side battery pack that you could charge at home, then maybe at the halfway point in a long trip you plug the pack into the charging port On the car during a stop, and let the power flow into the car's battery. ... Just like with an auxiliary battery pack for a mobile ph...

Re: Can we clear up Serial vs Parallel drive?

There's none so blind as those who will not see! This is ACTUALLY what I wrote :- So you leave home with a low cost full charge from the grid, get on to a motorway, rapidly deplete the battery for few miles and then use expensive petrol to recharge the battery to use at your destination, rather tha...

Re: Can we clear up Serial vs Parallel drive?

Did you start your test with same battery level? Did you finish both test with equal and less than 50% battery remaining charge? Do you disengage the parallel - CHARGE mode once battery reaches 60% - 70% charge? Not exactly. I am basing my observation on monitoring a ScanGuage while I am driving. D...

Re: Can we clear up Serial vs Parallel drive?

I still can't reconcile claims made here that parallel is more fuel efficient. My mpg measurements indicate that parallel uses more fuel. Did you start your test with same battery level? Did you finish both test with equal and less than 50% battery remaining charge? Do you disengage the parallel - ...
