Re: Ran out of gas but depleted battery got me home

Cool to know. Hope I don't see the same thing :) Living in a rural area I would be so afraid to own a pure EV. Run out of "gas" in one of those an expensive tow is the only option. At least with the PHEV you can still put a gallon of gasoline in and make it home or to a charge point. With all the ch...

Re: Battery Health Check procedure - correct method?

The displayed range is a guess at best. It's all dependent on what temp of the battery is, use of climate control, what kind of driving you do, terrain, traffic, speed, etc. The car's computer generates this value based on past driving ... the meter is called a "guess-o-meter" ... lots of links on t...

Re: 2018 Canadian PHEV wont run in ev.

As far as the relay upgrade goes, it is my understanding that is just a beefier relay and should not make a difference. They also had to replace the fuse/relay compartment cover with one which was a bit taller since the new relay bumped against it. Do you know for sure there were software changes wi...

Re: What fuel consumption can I expect on 50mile run on motorway?

I may be late for the party around this discussion ... but I travel about once a month to a nearby community 100km away. We live in the mountains and the road is a bit hilly, certainly not flat. I travel, usually with the cruise on, at a steady 105 km/hr. What I try to do is to use the PHEV default ...

Re: Cheap car to give driving lessons

For the sake of your sanity; the sake of your relationships with your spouse and/or children; the safety of your fellow citizens ... never teach family members how to drive.

Enough said.

The car does not have a transmission ... so you're safe in assuming that it is not the transmission :)

Power tailgate locking

Is it possible to lock the car and close the power tailgate with one action? On my 2020 (Canadian) I want to do the following: - from inside, pop open the tailgate using the console switch, - remove a heavy object (a saxophone case) with one hand and hit the close button on the tailgate, .... all go...

You may be able to keep the running lights off by enabling the electric park brake before starting the car.

Re: How to use 110 V AC outlet without headlights on

Copied from a recent post I made: Discovery! If you set the light switch to OFF and enable the electric park brake and then switch to car to ON the daytime running lights will not come on. So, now when you use the 110v (or 220 depending on your country) you'll have a dark car. Switch off the AC/Heat...

Re: Using PHEV as a backup generator

Don't know if this is the same one you found, https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=FRQjDi5aXTg Not quite what I was thinking. Didn't know, though, that CHAdeMO was 2-way. Interesting. I just want to run a 110v line from the plug in the car to something in my house. But, how much juice is there in the car...
