Hello

I recently purchased a 2014 Outlander PHEV. It's going well, but the display unit looks like it could do with an update.

So some questions about updating the firmware:

  1. My local Mitsubishi dealer (in Australia) says there will be a substantial cost to update the firmware. They will tell me the price when I bring it in in a few days time. Is this normal to charge for in Australia?
  2. How would I find what the currently installed version is?
  3. Is there good information online about version history - I want to be prepared, to know if it's worth paying the price to upgrade
  4. And finally, is it possible to do the upgrade oneself, for the 2014 model?

Thanks - any advice appreciated

Dan

Ok, thanks for reading

Had my car at the dealer today, they say the firmware can't be upgraded. The things that are rather dumb about the display screen will stay that way. And I'm not going to pay $250 to update the navigation maps (which seem to have been years out of date already when the car was new).

I will enjoy what's good about the car - it drives very nicely. End of story.

I have to say this is rather bizzarre.

I drive a 2014 PHEV and just had my firmware updated yesterday.

(Something to do with maintaining the voltage of the 12V battery).

Is there any information missing from your post?

Were you asking for a change that Mitsubishi hasn't made?

Hi Andy

Sorry if you find this bizarre. I was trying to be straightforward in the question, and then passing on what the service people at the Mitsubishi dealer told me. Great that you had a better experience.

The software that I was seeking to upgrade is for the display console which includes the built in GPS, power consumption data, aircon controls, audio etc. It seems to have many minor flaws and I just assumed that they would release updates. As noted, the only bit they advised is upgradable is the GPS map data.

So, if you have any info or experience about this, it would be great to hear.

cheers
Dan

None of the upgrades I've received have affected any of those listed items.

I would suggest that means that there are no upgrades for those things.
