Hi all,

I just joined the forum. I am a current Chevy Volt owner and extremely happy with it! My wife and I are looking for a family car and the Outlander PHEV looks as it might fit the bill. The fact that it has a similar drivetrain as the Volt, is a huge part of our decision.
Driving electric is smooth as butter, but the charging network is not quite ready for prime time...thats where the gas back up comes in to play. I think this is the way of the future until we transition to full electric cars!
That being said;
when will it be available in the US?
Has anyone on here driven a Volt and an Outlander? How does it compare?

Thanks!

Outlander Phev and Chevrolet Volt comparisons.

Yes I had a Chevy Volt, but the 3 year lease ran out, wasn't able to get another, Chevy seems to have pulled out of the UK market, the Vauxhall Ampera was too expensive.

The Volt battery range is much higher, was getting 50 miles these last 3 months.
The engine usually never comes on on the Volt unless I press the hold button, from May till now I was able to drive 22 miles to work and 22 miles back on battery even with the AC on full with 8 miles range showing back home.

The phev starts up the engine if you accelerate too hard, and it only does about 23 miles on battery, the monthly lease is cheaper now though.

Both are quiet and smooth, the rear view visibility is much better in the phev and no more front skirt scrape to cringe about.

No wing mirror wind buffeting noise when the windows are down on the phev.

The higher seating position is nice on the phev.

There is no silly 2 horn beeps (that's not disable-able) when you plug in on the phev , but it does have a very loud tailgate warning beep when you open/shut it. (which can be muffled or removed)

The headlights on my phev are xenon and this is so noticeable when driving in the countryside compared to the projector lens headlights of the Volt. It also has a proper full beam.

So far I only miss the Bluetooth remote SIM access profile mode of the Volt.
and the pre-cool from the keyfob (the phev has a smartphone app for that or on-board timer)
