Introduced in Europe in late 2013, the Mitsubishi Outlander PHEV became in May 2014 not only the best selling plug-in vehicle that month, but also Europe’s top selling plug-in vehicle thus far in 2014.

The Outlander plug-in hybrid has sold over 6000 units this year, ahead of the 5500 of the Nissan Leaf, and the 4100 Tesla Model S.

I am not surprised. A lot of people who can afford the prices commanded by today's EVs expect to a truly practical/rewarding car. Both ModelS and PHEV tick that crucial box.

I wonder where they get these numbers. A small country like Holland has a steady sales of about 1600 per month for the last half year....

Interesting point...

And now the Outlander PHEV has sold 428 units in Sweden, so 6000 for the first 6 months for all of Europe does seem low...

Mitsubishi Outlander PHEV registrations surged in June to 428 units, which is more than two thirds of all plug-in vehicles sold that month in Sweden.

Total sales of plug-in vehicles in Sweden reached a new high, as the number of registrations for the very first time exceeded 600 units and 2% market share.
