I just received my new 2018 Outlander 4H yesterday & am just trying to find my way around it. After getting over the surprise of the sunroof & satnav missing I have come across a few other issues I wonder if anyone else has had:

- I cannot connect to the Wi-Fi on the car, the connection just fails every time & the password is definitely right?
- when taking a phone call though Bluetooth hands free, the audio only comes out of the passenger side speaker & not the drivers side?

Has anyone had any similar issues or know of a resolution?

Thanks

I have the 2017 4Hs I personally think the removal of the sunroof and MMCS is a mistake. The phone speaker on mine is the same, passenger side only

Do you drive on the right in your country? Japan drive on the left like the UK. In my UK car the calls come out of the right hand speaker which is the drivers side. Maybe they dont change it for the left hand drive market?

I'm in the UK & its a UK model so right hand drive but the sound comes out the left passenger side speaker?

For the wifi , have you followed the instructions carefully? They are different for Android and Apple, there is also 3 different apps, make sure you have the correct one.

The Bluetooth sound does only come through the Passenger speaker.

Traditionally, hands free kits only provided sound through the opposite side to the driver - this was to cut back on feedback through the on-board microphone. As technology advanced, manufacturers were able to provide sound through all speakers by having a higher quality microphone that was unidrectional - would only pick up sound directly in front of it from a certain angle. Hence why sometimes if a passenger tries to speak, you can't always hear them. It gives a clearer sound. Quite a bit of testing is done on the setup for this when the car is in prototype mode, to ensure it works. Perhaps Mitsubishi didn't spend too much time on this part, and opted for the easy way of speakers to opposite of driver only.

I believe MMCS is a Kenwood system, but stand to be corrected. I'm also not too sure how old the underlying system actually is. I get a feeling the general hardware is older than you might think, despite the software and looks being updated. Explains why it can be sluggish and not intuiative. The car play system will be new obviously, but it has been designed to fit all Mitsubishis accross the range, from cheap to expensive - so again, that's probably the easy way around it for why it's still passenger speaker only.

I've posted in the one speaker issue before - it's pants! And no other car I've been in/had has this "feature". Look online for a YouTube on the hidden maintenance mode for the display, and you can change left hand drive/ right hand drive, which will at least have the speaker closest to you.
