I am only getting 16/17 miles range from a fully charged battery on electric only range. Is this normal? I was expecting it to be nearer 25-28. I don't use any heaters etc and drive economically. Any suggestions on what to do or how to improve this? I have owned the car for a month now and I did get 22 at the beginning. It is a 65 plate car. Thanks

Have a look at the Nissan Leaf main dealer site they have chart you just put in your speed, heater outside temperature and it will show you an estimated range.

The Outlander PHEV battery is most efficient at 25 degree C, the warmer of colder it gets the less efficiency. In the summer we were achieving 34/35 miles, if we travelled at 55 mph on the motorway to the daughter we achieved about 30, increase the same journey to 60 mph it dropped to 27/28 miles.

This time of the year at 5/7 degree C we are seeing around 24/25 miles driving around and 20 miles with the heating on.

In addition to what has been mentioned already....is this your first EV? To get the mileage estimates they claim, you have to drive it much more conservatively than you would a car with an ICE. You have to drive like you have a raw egg on your accelerator and brake pedals...and the colder weather just reduces the battery range no matter how hard you try.

I find that right after a full charge, I lose the top quarter of the battery very quickly... compared to the last three quarters.

I drive very conservatively and carefully and today when the temperature dropped significantly ( to 5-8 degrees) I got about 8 miles to empty. I am not looking at the Mitsubishi estimate I am looking at the actual miles that I have driven. I don't have the heating etc on. Surely this is below the usual variations due to temperature and manner of driving. All local city miles. I use Eco most and B 3/5 where possible. What else can I do to increase the range? Does the kind of charging make a difference? I use a 3 pin plug at home and charge it fully each night.
Thanks

8 real miles is a very low performance, regardless of the circumstances. What year, what mileage? I would advise you to get a battery condition report from your dealer. Have them have a look at the brakes as well.

Is the battery full after an overnight charge? If not there may be a "hidden" heating cycle draining the battery early in the morning in cold weather.

Thanks! I will check these things out. Maybe I will get a battery check. The car is a used GX4hs and was first registered 29th Jan 2016.

Does Mitsubishi in fact use an automatic battery heating cycle in low temperatures if the car is "off"?

No, not a battery heating cycle.

If someone has set heating timers up, to heat the car, this will use up your battery.
