New to the forum, although, I read for quite a while. My profile will be updated by time.

Originally, I wanted to fully jump on the EV train and skip the hybrid step as I had the thoughts that two engines in one vehicle is one to many. However, the Dieselgate in Germany led to make a decision earlier than planned. A little accident of a broken glass on the back door at my 2014 DI-D had me to discuss the overall situation with the shop owner one day. It ended up with literaly a car swap to the new 2020 PHEV model in March 2020. Since then I'm a happy driver of the Top model, mostly conquering the Rhine-Main area south of Frankfurt, Germany.

Just joined this forum.

1. Bought a used 2016 Outlander GX 4H PHEV in September 2019

3. Facelift model (I think)
4. Lower resident on-street parking cost, no congestion and emission zone charges made me look around
5. Live in Hackney, London
6. Work as freelance editor, proof reader and print quality controller
7. No previous experience of EVs

Previously owned from new, but pre-registered diesel 1998 2001cc Peugeot 406 estate. Had done 120,000 miles and was good for many more. But aggravation of living in an inner London borough, and the extra charges of ownership the Green lobby was forcing thorough, made me look at alternatives.

In normal times, do a once-a-quarter trip to Paris and/or Antwerp and local trips usually within 30-mile radius of London. The European trips seemed to put a full EV capable of safely doing 300+miles out of my price range. Did online researches of hybrids. Still remained unsure, but Mitsubishi appeared to get the best reviews and fewer negative comments. Thought I'd try used, and tracked one down at a dealer in Epsom.

I like the car during the little I've used it (barely 1200 miles since purchase), but I admit I would have probably gone for a Peugeot had there been enough of its used its hybrids been around in September 2019. Nevertheless, I'm enjoying the Outlander and will probably stick with it for a couple more years.

Two niggles — lack of spare wheel, and I don't think the robustness matches Peugeot.

I was impressed by the fact that I could reliably burn rubber and/or completely humiliate
muscle cars from a standing start (most of them would eventually pass me after 1/4 mile, though).

4. Moving away from petrol only but wanting security of petrol engine having a young family for longer journeys. Good value for money compared to other hybrid’s/SUV’s (a lot of car for your money imo).
