Maximum Tire Size After 40mm Lift?

Search for my posts on this subject, I have the 40mm lift and larger tires on my '18 PHEV. Be aware that the lift stresses the sway bar end links, so you will be replacing them on occasion.

40 mm Lift kit impossible to install?

Update to my lift kit experience: In the roughly 100,000 km that I've driven since the lift, I've had to replace 3 front sway bar end links. Two have broken, and 1 was bent. The lift obviously puts extra strain on them, especially since the car can now navigate much rougher terrain. I think the...

New front discs at 34,000 miles? (55,000 km in new money)

My dealer here in Canada services the slider pins as part of every routine 8,000 km service. I now have 131,000 km on my '18, and the brake pads are not yet worn enough to replace.

New front discs at 34,000 miles? (55,000 km in new money)

Are you in a very hilly area? Most of my driving is near level, with a few moderate hills each day, and at 129,000 km ( just over 80,000mi), I'm still good on the original pads, never mind the discs. I've been very pleased with the brake wear on this car.

Front shock dust cover bellows shredded

The dealers here are very good about warranty issues, and the Mitsu coverage on mine is bumper to bumper, excluding tires, brakes, and hoses. When a headlight bulb died, I just drove to the dealer, told them it was out, and left about an hour later with it fixed, no charge.

Front shock dust cover bellows shredded

If you're only at 60K miles, those parts, and the labour, should still be covered under Mitsu's warranty, at least here in Canada, where the coverage is 10 years/160,00km.

    Lift Kit installed

You will only encounter the pass. side axle rubbing on the A-arm when that wheel is at full downward extension, which will only occur when you're crossing deep holes off road. There are no other symptoms of any sort noticeable during normal driving.

40 mm Lift kit impossible to install?

It will go in without grinding, but the axle will contact the lower A-arm when the wheel drops to its lowest travel, which probably won't happen on the highway, but will when you start traversing deep ruts off road. It could be heard and felt when I did that, and left a scrape mark on the axle...

40 mm Lift kit impossible to install?

Yes, same thing on my '18. The installer ground away just enough of the lower control arm to clear at full extension. The 30 mm would be the better option, but wasn't available when I had mine installed.

Do I need to charge every day?

I'm in a similar position to the OP here, in that I rarely get to charge my PHEV, and still find it a very economical vehicle to operate, with fuel costs about $0.10/km. Forget the other hybrids, buy the PHEV, and enjoy the room , comfort, power, and superb traction in all weather conditions...

    Lift Kit installed

Hey, yvrPHEV, I'm glad you got it done. Mine is still doing well, though I have pushed the limits a few times, one of which cost me a 10km hike to get cel service for a rescue. I got crossed up over an angled trench, with 1 front wheel and the opposite rear wheel suspended. The rear was on the...

Picking up 18/19 2.4L PHEV next week What should I look for?

You don't state a location, so I don't know what a "protection pack" means where you are, but here in Canada it is an extra cost dealer service that includes special treatments on the paint and upholstery to protect from stains and minor damage. In my case it includes repair of minor dents and...

    New tyres

My new tires are Yokohama Geolander G015, which are all weather/all terrain, so I can run them year round without having to change twice a year. I've had them on the car for 25,000km so far, and they have performed admirably in every condition I've encountered; highway, dirt roads, mud, ice...

    New tyres

My all terrain/snow tires are not unidirectional, so diagonal rotation is not a concern. It's important for me to carry a spare, as my adventures take me into locations that road assistance will not go; unmaintained logging and mining access roads and forest fire suppression trails. These often...

    New tyres

Yes, you have to change them all at once, but less frequently than if you don't rotate them. The 20% increase I stated is from the fact that I am using 1 more tire in the rotation, leaving each tire as a spare several times during their useful life. The overall cost is the same as replacing a...
