Return to EV mode after gas engine starts

I find on my 2023, once the gas engine turns on it will run for 5 min or so no matter what you do. I think this is to prevent condensation forming before the engine is fully heated. Some members on the forum doubt 5 minutes is long enough to fully heat the engine.

    Heavy freeway driving

I do a lot of highway driving. I also know I have about 7km of non-highway driving before I either get to the highway or leave it to get home. So I start out in EV mode because it is more efficient at lower speeds and stop/start traffic until I get to the highway. Then I switch the button to...

Return to EV mode after gas engine starts

If it gets cold enough, the Internal Combustion Engine' s coolant might turn to ICE, which could be a source of In Car Entertainment as the passengers try to get warm.

Return to EV mode after gas engine starts

I find if the battery is cold, the ICE tends to kick in earlier at a lower amount of acceleration.

    Charging from the engine

In my experience so far, running the vehicle in Charge mode while towing results in more high revving than running it in Normal. But I agree with you that running the battery to exhaustion is not the answer either, so that is why I am experimenting with Safe mode - but not sure if this really is...

    Charging from the engine

I've used it when towing, but the engine often revs quite high. The Outlander has a pretty low towing rating, so I wonder if Charge Mode while towing a large load puts undue stress on the engine?

Struggling with this fast charging business

This summer was the first time I used the ChaDeMo on one of the Flo chargers near me to fast-charge my 2023. They look like they were designed in the ‘70s Soviet Union to withstand a nuclear attack. The fellow Outlander user ahead of me helped me out by starting it for me, but I didn’t pay...

Spare wheel / space saver … a Maverick alternative?

According to moderntiredealer.com "An all-season tire that meets 3PMS is still a remarkable tire in the balance of performance it can deliver and for that reason, they represent the top 10% of the all-season tire market. But the best dedicated winter tires out there can deliver up to 50% more...

Level 2 charger at home, anybody? What are your thought?

And using a long extension cord, which would drop the voltage. I only use level 1 when I am away somewhere and generally have to run it quite a distance to find a recepticle.

it could be temperature related as well. It is hovering around freezing these days.

    Towing with 2023 Outlander PHEV

Some of this may have to do with it being the 2023 version and likely getting more activist lawyers involved over time, but it may also have to do with our climate. Having a heavy trailer behind you going downhill on an icy road can be scary if there is no trailer braking. The Outlander does not...

    Outlander PHEV Sub-Zero Operation Question

I just got the software update letter from Mitsubishi Canada this morning. Here is the key section: "It is important to keep the electric drive battery from getting too cold as it may not operate under these conditions. Please note as the vehicle is driven, the battery will generate some heat...

    Frozen Charging Port - Solutions?

I had a lot of problems with the charging door not opening and had the latch mechanism replaced twice by the dealer. Ultimately, the technician suggested I spray the shaft occasionally with silicon libricant and this seems to have improved things a lot. Wonder if it is slightly out of alignment...

Level 2 charger at home, anybody? What are your thought?

I have a 2023 with a larger battery. It takes me 10-12 hours to charge it on 120V. I installed the charger before I decided on the vehicle, so I wasn't sure what the maximum charging rate would be at the time. I'm glad I used the electrician to calculate what my home could deliver because he...
