    PHEV versus Diesel

Exactly! Exactly! Exactly! This is a wonderful "two cents". I'm a fan, man. Cost of ownership vs (or in connection with) your cost of actually owning the car. Incredible. I believe you're right, too, on the later part of your comments, regarding the impact on the environment. That's what...

    Phev orders

Astute response! I really like you're take on it, and whole-heartedly agree. In particular, I enjoyed your comment on "first mover advantage". I guess we'll just have to see what Mitsubishi does with their Outlander plug, but really, it's getting close. Altogether, though, it might even be a...

    Charging process for Outlander PHEV

Too, this process just got more interesting with the offer from British Gas (where the SUV is available). It even opens it up for friends and family of the owners. Going to grandma's house regularly? Grandma can get it for free and the owner can even get use of the POLAR network anywhere for...

Good Problems - Way to manage a launch

We all know that Mitsubishi has delayed their US launch of the Outlander PHEV, and it's garnered some negative attention from the media. However, I'm loving this story. http://www.motoring.com.au/news/2013/medium-4x4/mitsubishi/outlander/mitsubishi-still-waiting-on-phev-37547 In essence, it...

    Phev orders

Lexus has discussed releasing a plug-in SUV since 2009 or so, but they don't seem intent on bringing it to fruition. The latest rumours have it coming out next year as 2014, but we'll have to see. I agree with ActionableMango (great name btw) that comments on the VW Crossblue. Have you seen the...

Mitsubishi extends Outlander PHEV production halt

Yep! Worthwhile and wise. Can you imagine if they just let it go and ignored the problem? No. Better that it comes with a good battery than anything else. Come on 2014 and the Outlander Plug in.

    What is Mitsubishi Outlander PHEV?

Popular and affordable are the two key words there, BobMarin. I agree. Unfortunatley, when you bring up electric cars to a consumer I seem to get a few canned responses. The most common of them is high cost. Ultimately, it's not that bad, but it's still a concern. On another thread, I talked...

    Charging process for Outlander PHEV

I imagine it has to be tough as a car company, though. It's an emerging market. There is definitely interest in this type of product from consumers and businesses as a green-conscious society continues to grow. Perhaps not at vocally as in the past couple of years, but one could even hope...

    Australian Launch Delayed

Right. Delays in something like this can be largely counterproductive. We're talking a vehicle people are screaming for, but the first of its kind in this sense of a fully PHEV in an SUV. If they continue delaying, there may not be a market left for them by the time it launches in the US. I...

    Phev orders

Well, that's actually possible. The Outlander plug-in may not have much in the way of SUV competitors, but it does have some. Lexus has the RX series SUV coming out in 2014. It's only a matter of time before other SUVS start coming out.

    PHEV versus Diesel

Interesting perspective. That surely is the pros/cons discussion we're facing isn't it? It's the balance of upfront costs versus cost of ownership. I like that breakdown. One could argue, that the cost of a PHEV is lower over its lifespan (presumably) versus a gas-powered car - no matter the...

    Phev orders

At least it is being delivered! The delay was a little setback, but reports keep saying that Mitisbushi is doubling their production of the Outlander Plug-in for 2014 launch in the US. Hopefully it works out for them!

    Australian Launch Delayed

Agreed! Particularly when we're talking an SUV not a sedan. It'll be interesting to see how it all pans out. An Outlander PHEV that does well could do well for everyone. Might just prove there is sustainable market beyond the little day trip cars.

    Australian Launch Delayed

In the US, I'm ok with a little delay. One hopes that a delay means they get all the kinks out before it hits the market. I don't intent to buy an Outlander plug-in, but I'm keen to see the market for these types of cars thrive. Here's hoping all this delaying is good for something.

    PHEV versus Diesel

I was talking with a friend today about the merits of electric over diesel fueled cars. He commented on the fuel economy enjoyed by many diesel vehicles. Personally, I didn't see his point, but it did get me thinking. Nearly every electric on the market has a diesel or fuel-based counterpart...
