Yes you certainly would not get by with a leaf. In a few years EV ranges will be 500 plus and the range issue will start to fade

To be clear we do still have the outlander as a gas car for trips out of range. Makes us realize how little we need that extra range. Maybe two or three times a year.

Not a comparison. Went full EV to avoid another crappy phev that might do the same thing although hearing from others, there are other phevs cars that actually work.

We bought a leaf and we love it. You see how many of us bought a product with reasonable expectations of how it would work and it did not. As a result, we took a financial loss by having to purchase different vehicles that actually work. Not right.

Thank you, yes that is the complaint. Even worse though, it isn't below freezing, it is below 50 degrees rendering it, as stated a 30 mpg (or worse) Prius for 5 months of the year in our climate. I've decided not to even plug it in during those months because it really is a waste

That really is one of the worst aspects. Mine also worked perfectly the first year. No way to see this coming no matter how much research we did. I specifically researched whether this would happen before my purchase and watched people in cold climates driving in EV mode with no problem.
