12V motorcycle lithium battery to replace aux battery?

No indeed - you got it. My non-ironic point was that I'm not sure if the battery in question will come out of standby mode with a brief application of power, or whether it is still necessary to physically press the button on the battery. In practice, I'd expect never to have to do that anyway...

12V motorcycle lithium battery to replace aux battery?

There is a definite 'might' there, to be sure. These batteries have their own internal BMS and are designed to work in the relatively simple environment of a motorcycle electrical system, so that is an unknown. I think 'refuse to charge' is unlikely though. I'm not sure the system even has the...

12V motorcycle lithium battery to replace aux battery?

Well, I am, and your concern is not significant, but thanks. I'm not seeing why it wouldn't work, but there may well be something I haven't thought of - hence the post.

    Faulty Charger Outlander PHEV

That is very likely to result in a high resistance connection that will generate heat and very well may start a fire :o - so my strong recommendation is that you do not do that and fix the thing properly.

12V motorcycle lithium battery to replace aux battery?

Any thoughts on this? It is possible to get lithium motorcycle batteries from Antigravity with an inbuilt jumpstart feature - so if parasitic drain is too much, they'll go to sleep/disconnect and you can press a button on the battery to reconnect. For a car in regular use, I'm thinking 12AH...

    Transmission service for PHEV??

Got my rear diff and front transaxle fluid changed at actual 30,000 km as part of last service due to the 'black with bits of metal' stories. OEM recommended fluid used. The stuff that came out was neither black nor contained bits of metal (in fact looked like clean new fluid), so was...

New PHEV (2019 model) | Locking doors when starting the car

A fair question, Mitch, but another question might be - why say it's possible, but then not supply more detailed instructions?

    Air con issues

I'd still be wondering if someone has inadvertently put the wrong stuff in the system. Note that as the a/c system is also used for cooling the main battery pack (it also has air cooling), if a/c isn't working there could be battery damage in high load situations.

    Air con issues

I'd be getting further opinions. I'm not sure the compressor even has a clutch, given that it is electrically driven: http://www.mhi.co.jp/technology/review/pdf/e512/e512044.pdf When the re-gas was done, could the service centre have used the wrong leak detection dye (if used), or the wrong...

Triple Procedure & Setup (Costs around 80USD)

Hello. Thanks for your work on the driver and for making it available. Do you have a recommendation for which J2534 cable to get? I was planning on a generic $10 - $15 one from AliExpress.

Battery Level is not updated after Charging

I can't recall the symptoms now, but I seem to remember that there can be a fault with the AC charge socket in which one of the pins becomes loose and gets pushed in, so that it doesn't make contact with the plug. It should be easy to check visually if all of the pins are at the same level.

    WiFi Module on 2014 PHEV

Pretty sure that it won't. Also, note that there was a wifi security firmware update in the past that was unintentionally bricking / disabling the wifi module. If that's been done, and not corrected, you may not have a functioning module - you'd have to try enabling it and registering a device...

D-Method on really stubborn cars or the A-Method :)

@michael8554: Pretty sure that one ^^^. I would also have expected it to work, as long as there was enough voltage to pull in the contactors. Your experience indicates that things aren't quite that straightforward. Definitely not - they're intended to be forward biassed in series with the...

D-Method on really stubborn cars or the A-Method :)

I'm not that surprised that it is not enough, especially for the contactors in the battery pack. I've been surprised that people have been able to initiate charging with such a low voltage. As to why a battery with low charge works, but a string of diodes connected to a battery with higher...

The different methods of battery management reset

This is from over at Battery University: If Mitsubishi are implementing something along these lines (and it seems likely they are although with a smaller top buffer), then that would explain why they have a procedure to transfer data from an old BMU to a replacement one. In particular...
