    Confused about petrol consumption

How do you average 70mph+ without breaking speed limits ? I could get to York much quicker doing that :-<

Level 1 charger has fault light blinking

Has the EVSE ever worked at your house? Or is it a new one ? There may be an earth leakage or poor earth in your house or car that the EVSE doesn't like. Did the dealership plug in to your car and there was no fault light ?

    great resource

Yes, took me a while to get the "muscle memory" of "back for forwards". Despite having had automatic cars for years, where D is back from P. My selector occasionally stays in the D position instead of springing back. Causes a continuous double beep.

    Confused about petrol consumption

I agree with Ecological's opinion on UK driving conditions - high average speeds are very difficult to achieve. Our 220 mile journey from Wiltshire to York to visit our son takes 5 hours, an average of 44mph. By contrast, in France I used to drive 630 miles from Dunkerque (Channel coast) to...

    Charging from the engine

"High revving for petrol engines means they are in their most effective state." Sort of, it all depends on the design of the engine, and it's intended use. "Normal" ICE engines tend to have peak power at higher revs than peak torque. Hybrid ICE engines tend to have peak power at around the...

Battery range dropped suddenly (phev, 2016 model)

19° would be much too cold for myself and wife. Maybe that's why we hardly ever need to use the aircon.

Battery range dropped suddenly (phev, 2016 model)

My UK 2014 2.0L PHEV is now on 30K miles and showed 30 miles range on the last 100% charge at home. Of course the real range is lower than that, but real range has never been as low as only 20 miles. For example, I can drive to and back from my nearest town 11 miles away, and still have range...

    Heavy freeway driving

A lot depends on how many miles the journey is.

2014 model - HV Battery leak (OBC codes included)

So none of the fault codes are stopping the car from charging ?

2014 model - HV Battery leak (OBC codes included)

New 12v battery - leave it connected, if the start button fires up the dash it's okay. Don't do any Lindqvist or D-Method. As the post by tfv43, and error codes suggest, aircon has lost it's fluid or is malfunctioning.

What did you do with your Outlander today?

Drove 11 miles there, 11 miles back, electric only. From our village to the nearest town that has banks, supermarkets, DIY superstore etc.. First dry day in ages.

Struggling with this fast charging business

On most EVs the Rapid Charging rate tails off above about 80% due to the BMS action. As I understand it, some of the cells will be hitting fully charged, and fewer and fewer of the cells will need charging. I believe you can force up to 100% by replugging, but it will take ages as it will be at...

Struggling with this fast charging business

If you'd done a cost analysis of UK Rapid Charging you wouldn't go near one. The Shell Recharge CHAdeMo at my local Waitrose supermarket costs £0.79 per kWh. (BTW Shell Recharge seems to be the only brand that will CHAdeMo charge my 2011 Mitsubishi I-MIEV fully electric car) A 2020 12kWh...

Not charging at public stations - Type 2

What year car ? Does it charge from the petrol engine ? Does it charge with the 10A "granny " charger ?

    Evse.... 240 volts?

Hi Fjpod There are many devices - laptop power bricks for instance - that work on 120V and 240V. But as your charger isn't marked 120V-240V I wouldn't chance it. Look on eBay USA for a used one that is 240V compliant.
