    It's time to say goodbye

Well folks, after 4 years and over 120,000 UK miles, it's time for me to say goodbye to my PHEV, and I won't be getting another one. I'm a P11D refugee and while the personal tax benefits have been great, my inability to charge at home or work, coupled with more than 30K miles a year (over 10K...

    Poor mpg on outlander phev

There is nothing wrong with your car, my late 2015 (facelift) car now has 121,000 miles showing and I would be delighted to average 35mpg! But i rarely do. If I commute to the office, it's 2 miles, but I cannot charge there or at home. When I go out anywhere, I'm lucky if the round trip is...

    Rear motor mounts worn...

I too have a 2015 car and just had mine changed at 117,500 miles, but they’ve been clonking for about 3 months (10k miles). Unfortunately I agree with others, these are a wear and tear item and £200 seems reasonable, but it is always worth a go to try and get a contribution through your warranty.

    Unwanted/needed engine start

Forgive me for asking, but I have never fully understood this, why on earth would you want to own a £35 - £50K car and then deliberately not heat the inside just to stop the heat source from starting? It’s a PHEV not a BEV. Your insights would be gratefully received.

    Electric shock when charging?

Agree completely with jaapv, there is no way you should get any kind of shock of this car, or any other car for that matter. It needs tracing and fixing immediately.

    Electric shock when charging?

May I ask where in the world you are located and how old is your car? Also, what do you mean by ‘metal boot clasp ring’? Regardless of this information, I think an urgent visit to your dealer is required to get this rectified, you should not be getting electric shocks off the vehicle.

    Abused CHADEMO

Here in the Uk (and I believe in the rest of 230vAC Western Europe) Chademo chargers work at a minimum of 50 KWh and 125A. There are some at 100 KWh with plans for even more powerful ones. I believe the main issue is that the system bypasses the regulators in the car to just dump huge amounts...

    TPIS more like total PITA!

So that the assembled knowledge here can help you, can you describe the process you are going through, and how/why (if it does at all) this varies from the simple instructions in your Owners Manual?

    Service indicator coming on early?

It counts down to when the service is due and it’s the only thing my leasing company are interested in. They would certainly not entertain having work done with 1000 miles to go (I’ve done more than that since Monday, with another 100 ish to go tomorrow) hence my frustration and out of sync car.

    controls that I can't stand

May I ask what your issue is with the selector lever? For me it’s elbow on arm rest, and move into Reverse or Drive just by flicking my fingers. But I am 6’2” and have the seat right back and as low as possible, but with the backrest relatively upright.

    Service indicator coming on early?

It comes on with 1000 miles to go, which for me is a big problem. My leasing company won’t let me book a service until the warning is on, but then I have to wait 4 to 5 weeks before it goes in, during which I will do a minimum of 3000 miles, which means at 115k miles in less than 4 years I am...

    Heater question

My car is a 2015 (65) 3+ with electric heating, and it gets warm as toast. Other than the usual misting, I never get condensation inside my car. Is the air recirculating button off? This should only ever be turned on for short spells, such as going through long tunnels, or driving into dust...

Bad Alignment after 22k miles for 2018 Outlander PHEV

I drive between 30k & 35k miles a year, and have you seen the state of many of the roads here?!? As I commented in a recent thread, 10k is on or inside the M25 (ie in London) and I regularly have to pass through Milton Keynes. For those that don’t know, this is a town based on a grid of...

Bad Alignment after 22k miles for 2018 Outlander PHEV

May I ask why you’re disappointed? Dealers here aren’t equipped for this level of analysis and adjustment. I take my car to an independent tyre garage after every service and when new tyres are fitted(I have written about this before) and they have a machine that produces a report just like...

Engine Oil Fuel Dilution Problem Is Back

Yes I did get the manual, the European servicing intervals are annually or 20,000km, whichever occurs first, so for the UK it’s 12,500 miles. I have just checked the MMCUK website, and it still says the same. Now I am lucky, to drive the miles I do, there aren’t many weeks where I don’t drive...
