Mitsubishi Outlander PHEV sells 8,000 in 3 months

Over in Europe, the recently launched Mitsubishi Outlander Plug-in Hybrid Electric Vehicle has become something of an overnight success. Since going on sale in October 2013, the Mitsubishi Outlander PHEV has sold 8000 times, with more than 11,000 orders still in the books!

Mitsubishi has only launched the Outlander PHEV in select markets, citing a desire to ensure demand can be filled in current markets before offering in other locations as well. Currently, the plug-in hybrid is on sale in Sweden, Norway, the Netherlands, and Switzerland. Oevr 12,000 people have signed up to drive the plug-in hybrid SUV.

Mitsubishi Outlander PHEV selling well

The Outlander PHEV is rated at 143 MPGe on European test cycles, and benefits from tax incentives that are aimed at helping increase the number of hybrid and electric vehicles on the road.

Mitsubishi says 8,009 of the 8,197 total Outlander PHEV sales have been in the Netherlands, and there are still thousands of pending orders in that country to fulfill.
