What features would you like to see added to the Outlander PHEV in the future?

Specs holder ... My 2017 5hs (UK) has a slot behind the sun visor that I've assumed is for sunglasses, but it's too tight for a frame to fit into it. That said, it holds my frameless clip-ons by one lens OK ... though perhaps it's not for that at all?

Had the 12v disconnected, now the brake and turnsignal honk at me.

Does it have - or have had - a towbar fitted? If so, check for a signal-sound- repeater box as that may be what's honking.

    A Running Costs Summary

Most recent summary for my late-2017 2.0L 5HS 109300 miles... Considering the high mileage, I'm not at all unhappy with 49.6mpg (UK) equivalent, though I find the car encourages me to drive somewhat more sedately than my dear old SAAB 95 HOT that still manages 35+mpg on LPG at 212000 miles...

    Blown plug on granny charger

Opps! Accidentally sent before finishing ... I wanted to add that moulded plugs are an unknown quantity insofar as we can't see inside them, so we blindly trust to the manufacturer to have done a good job. Some don't even come with bult-in fuses (though none for PHEVs that I've seen so far)...

    Blown plug on granny charger

Crun beat me to it (ta) though I would add... apart from poor device design and construction, overheating is most likely to be due to a poor connection forcing too much current through too small a contact area. This is not uncommon when it comes to mains plugs which, in the UK, need to meet...

    Inadvertent Reliability Confirmations?

This morning my wife admonished me (yet again) for not checking pockets before adding clothes to the washing pile. Then she handed me my PHEV fob. It was still dripping wet after having clanked it's way through the wash cycle before being rescued. Before so much as dabbing it dry, I pointed...

    Air Con Issue

My ventilation fan was clattering like a knight stumbling along in shredded armour when I bought the car. Turned out that the pollen filter had been removed and dried leaves had fallen down into the fan housing. Easy removed when a new filter was fitted. May be worth checking for similar?

    Charge mode?

Please help my understanding... It seems to me that running the ICE to drive the generator alone need only be of concern in respect of time, rather than distance travelled or road speed; so whether the car's stationary or travelling makes no difference as the amount of charge generated will be...

    2023 Outlander PHEV SEL

I've fitted Tow-Trust bars to three very different cars and found them each to be well-designed, well-made, strong, accurate and straightforward to fit. I was fortunate to find a used TMiT1, complete with dedicated 13-pin electrics, for a bargain price. It had been previously fitted to 2014 and...

    Type 1 Charging Cable

For info of anyone who might want to do similar... I've wall-mounted a Type 1 'brick' under a simple shelter. It's plugged into a switched 240V, 13 Amp, socket at the end of a spur - via an isolator switch inside the house - that's tapped from a convenient ring-main socket. (Pic attached.) A...

My spare tyre solution. with photo's.

Though he doesn't mention the third important spec... offset. Possibly OK on the rear, but just a tad more vital to be wary of if fitted to the front, maybe?

Part Wanted Space saver wheel wanted in the UK

You might find info in ..."a Maverick alternative" thread of some use.

Spare wheel / space saver … a Maverick alternative?

Interesting. Can you confirm that the Outlander rims are designed to be run-flat compatible, please?

Spare wheel / space saver … a Maverick alternative?

I've not received any further info regarding the offset, though looking at the WILLTHEYFIT.com graphic I posted I'm not too concerned. If someone who has a genuine Outlander spare can post a similar graphic, that could prove useful. Pretty please?

Cargo area - filling the two open spaces beside and below the floor

Just as an example, these pics show the SAAB 9-5 solution. The bins are easily removed and the lids are solid (plywood?) with carpet covers.

Beeping while standing still or driving under 20km/h. Help 🫢

Carrying anything remotely heavy on a seat (handbag?) can trigger the seat belt alarm. You could also try fastening all belts and see if it still chimes.

    A Running Costs Summary

Update 29 Nov 2023 8 months into ownership and consumption costs are looking pretty good (or at least I can live with 'em!) with over £100 seemingly saved over barely 3000 miles. Nothing quite like playing with buttons and paddles as best suits driving needs to turn you into a more careful and...
