    Australians down under

Yep agreed similar cost & materials for me, done simply by the book and specified ingredients no problems. Imagine the resale values if this was not possible, anyway only a small number of dealerships can handle a real Phev service & maintenance. If you check my previous comments you can see...

    brake controller install

Yeah agreed which is why I am getting one that is manually controlled rather than blue tooth/app, so have a search around for alternatives, my mechanic is doing this for me and I can let you know when done if you like but this may take a while I am in no rush. To me the trailer installed...

    Australians down under

My retired mechanic services my phev no problems, follows the manual, always checks the phev with the Mitsu service centre for any updates including the latest updates for example the break-recall and they have no problems with warrantee etc. I mean he takes the vehicle in to the Mitsu service...

    brake controller install

I am currently doing this with my Phev but installing the controller on the trailer itself not the phev so that any suitable vehicle can use the trailer and electric brakes. For example:https://www.elecbrakes.com/ ;)

Winter/offroad tyres on 16" rims? Anyone tried?

No I meant original non phev outlander or the standard outlander petrol/diesel version 16 inch alloys. There is no increase in diameter or impact on the speedo or arches etc. I use the 16/70s in summer and the 18/55s in winter.

Winter/offroad tyres on 16" rims? Anyone tried?

You should should have no problems with 16 inch rims, the alternative specs are in the manual and on the door arch regarding tyre sizes pressures. Picture attached used original outlander rims with Khumo Venture APT 70 inch tyres

    Strange noise

Hi there I had a similar issue last year and my mechanic picked it up as a rear hub issue - bearings needed to be replaced. The noise only occurred while moving, I had assumed it was noise from the exhaust pipe but wife who sometimes rides in the rear indicated it was very noisy so I had my...

    Australians down under

Yes have my cars - prius and phev serviced by non dealer mechanic who completes service book and uses genuine parts (inc oil), also has own diagnostics and goes even further to dealer for additional service diagnostics just in case. So far has reported warrantee faults such as rear wheel hub...

    Maximum step height

In a previous post last month I discussed my 4x4 beach safari where we accessed the beach via very rough limestone 10k trail with rocks impeding smooth access, the rocks negotiated were of sufficient height and variety to scratch but not dent/damage the underside carriage. The strategy used was...

The best "proper" 4wd tyres I can find at the moment.

Yes I recently did a beach course and booked my Phev in so that I could learn what to do if one gets bogged which included accessing the beach via a rough road trail while at the same time keeping in mind the warnings in the Phev manual to try and avoid beach sand etc only to be used for...

    EV Battery report from Mitsubishi.

From my previous post regarding axle/hub fix and battery report I got everything done ok except the battery report, I requested this before the phev was booked in, during its fix (ie off road for 6 weeks) and on collection all I got back was a verbal "battery within its normal range"?? I then...

    Run flat tyres

Great idea been looking for something like this but only problem I can see is reversing camera and sensors will not be usable otherwise ok. So yes when having a flat in city use nearest tyre service shop and when in country bring spare tyre with you or put extra spare on trailer.

    Wheel Bearings & Battery report

Good News - mostly Had phone call car is repaired and ready for pickup this afternoon its only been a few weeks, apparently they have repaired rear end under warranty - well done. I guess they allowed 2 months for a margin of safety as they never had to do that sort of repair on a Phev type...

    Wheel Bearings & Battery report

Yes one was offered but I have a spare so in lieu I requested they fix minor body paint and dents, said okay but will see. Also parts from Japan ordered will take 4-6 weeks via their off the road crisis ordering system? Mitsi will get back to me on SOH one day but they say they have been given...

    Wheel Bearings & Battery report

Well no not harsh perhaps hot sometimes (eg 43 c) as 99% travel done on excellent paved roads. 1% done on gravel roads dusty but not rough. Every now and then long distance for camping purposes with camping trailer around 500kg but not often.

    Wheel Bearings & Battery report

Hi Guys I am an old member just had 60k service (2.5yrs old without a previous hitch) but after the service by my independent mechanic he indicated the rear noise was coming from left wheel bearings in rear axle which required fixing under warrantee. Yesterday after booking phev into local...

    Faulty home charging cable

Yes I always used the rope to support the brick. The replacement brick did not come with a cord so I am now supporting the bricks via hooks in the wall, one at home and one at work.

    Faulty home charging cable

Yes same thing happened to me last month reported faulty cable/brick so they wanted the car in to test (required for for a whole day), then when picked up car at end of day they said yes it is faulty will call for a warranty replacement which took 2 weeks to arrive. Had car for 1 year and 4...
