    New Zealand charging

I'm on grid tie with no batteries so can only make the most of it during strong daylight.

    New Zealand charging

I charge it during daylight hours when the sun is shining and we are generating peak power form out solar panels.

That's what I would have thought but it just won't do it. And at the risk of repeating myself, Mitsubishi NZ warned me of this. I'm not making it up.

I know the weight of the trailer and how much wood was put in there.

Unfortunately I was already committed at that point and could not reverse and try again.

    New Zealand charging

My car is on a 3 year lease so I'm not that concerned about battery longevity. My primary requirement is getting the car charged as fast as humanly possible.

    New Zealand charging

Something else I've found out is after about 30 mins of charging it drops down to only 1 or 2 amps for a few mins, almost 10 gone so far. So I unplugged it and plugged in again and boom, straight back up to 14.5 amps. So what is the car software doing during the charging phase? I will track...

Here's the thing, according to my Juicebox Pro 40 my 2016 PHEV is only taking charge at 14.5amps. The manual states 16amps though.

It's a rough driveway with loose gravel and quite slippery. The final point where it choked is a very steep bit but only about 8m long. Actually the entire driveway is closer to 400m. The batteries were full when I started out BUT I had driven on the road for 5kms quite slowly. It did really...

And as I said, once I cleared most of the wood off and tried again it worked fine. Guess those electric motors have some sort of protection mechanism in them to stop them burning out.

No warnings, nothing else pressed. it got to a really steep bit and decided that was it. We tried all sorts of things to get it to go but it refused to budge. We even let it cool right down but still no luck. When you push the throttle the motors determine the total weight and drag. It...

I'm not sure there were actually any complaints in NZ either. It's just after all the testing they decided to limit it to 750kg.

Thanks. Any idea why they would limit it to 16a?

There's no way to force it to do anything though. I even had it in 4WD lock mode, Normal mode, all full power. In fairness to Mitsubishi NZ they warned me it would be a problem.

Unfortunately my brand new 2016 phev got stuck at the top of our driveway with about 1100kgs of wood and trailer on the back. Batteries were full and i used the charge button all the way up but after about 200m it just died. It refused to pull anymore. I had to unload most of the wood before...

    New Zealand charging

Does anyone know if it's possible to make the 2016 PHEV accept a greater charge than 16amps on AC? Seems like an awful waste of potential charging at only 16amps, especially as I have a 40 amp charger available.
