    Accuracy Of Digital Battery Display

It was always referred to add the guessometer and never was more than a rough indication. Towards the end of its life, my 2014 PHEV behaved pretty much the same - the initial indication was grossly over optimistic and dropped off rapidly when I started driving. Martin

    Confused about petrol consumption

We had a 2014 model which was used primarily for highway driving. Once you have run the battery flat, you should be able to get around 44mpg or 6.5 ltr/100km out of it. If you are interested in overall fuel consumption, then you need to subtract your EV range from the 100km and then work out the...

Part Wanted Space saver wheel wanted in the UK

I find that a flat with no replacement compromises driveability even more... Martin

    Rust

I fear that may be the case... It's worth a try talking to them but with Mitsubishi retreating from the car market in many countries, it would be difficult to put effective pressure on them. Since it's a white car, my tendency would be towards sanding back the rust, filling it out with...

Buying a new Mitsubishi in UK ?

If the car had been newer, I might have done that. As it was, I was in possession of a car approaching ten years old with 100,000 miles on the clock, beginning to sound quite elderly and look a bit tatty. I would not have wanted to keep it much longer under any circumstances and, with Mitsubish...

    Update from Gary Reed

It seems to be a common problem with all EVs, not just Mitsubishi. Our Outlander PHEV was showing its age, and Mitsubishi have withdrawn from Europe, including Britain, so we decided to replace it while it still had some trade-in value. Ford were beginning to promote their Explorer EV SUV and we...

Buying a new Mitsubishi in UK ?

You are lucky that Halfords were prepared to do it. Last spring, I tried the usual suspects - KwikFit, ATS etc. - and the answer was always a flat no. The tyre specialists like KwikFit were prepared to replace tyres since they could easily remove the wheel and do the work away from the car...

Buying a new Mitsubishi in UK ?

I must agree that ours needed no maintenance other than oil changes - and the almost obligatory drive-shaft coupling replacement that all 2014 models needed. But when we traded it in at ten years old and 100,000 miles, it did sound like a well used ten year old car. If Mitsubishi had not pulled...

Buying a new Mitsubishi in UK ?

There were a lot of Outlanders sold eight to ten years ago because the tax status was so attractive. That sales boom pushes up the numbers that you see on the road, but changes to the tax regime and other motoring costs like the London Congestion Charge have almost completely removed the...

General Question about the Air Conditioning Compressor.

Part of the problem here, at least, is that the independent workshops are not willing to repair EVs - they are aware that there are high voltages present and concerned at the Health and Safety implications. Insurance companies are not willing to provide cover for staff unless they have been...

Battery range dropped suddenly (phev, 2016 model)

It's just one of those "set and forget" things - I set mine to 19° when I picked up the car for the first time and it just stayed there almost till I traded it in. There's a thermostat and it either heats or cools as necessary to make me comfortable... Martin

Battery range dropped suddenly (phev, 2016 model)

My experience of a brand new 2014 model was that you had to drive it very gently to get 28 miles out of it. I would assume that most UK customers would have the aircon on all the time - I didn't buy a new, and relatively expensive, car in order to drive it like the old Mini that I had as a...

    Heavy freeway driving

Looking at the original question, it seems quite clear that the distance is a fair bit beyond the EV range. Martin

    Lifetime Fuel Consumption

I don't think it's unusual - my new X-Trail does not have a lifetime reading either. It maintains three numbers - consumption since most recent engine start, consumption since last refuel and consumption since last manual reset. Martin

    Lifetime Fuel Consumption

Given that the mpg is very driver dependent, I'm not sure that the figure achieved by the previous owner of a second-hand car is of much interest to you. Depending on usage patterns, it's not hard to get the fuel consumption of an Outlander PHEV up to similar levels to a pure petrol car - do you...

    Lifetime Fuel Consumption

I don't know about the recent models - in my 2014 model it was necessary to leave one of the trip recorders untouched from delivery. Mine was showing a lifetime of 44.3 mpg when I traded it in last year Martin

Part For Sale Before I bin it...

... does anyone want a 16A Chargemaster wall unit? It's about ten years old, but was working fine a few months ago before we traded in our old 2014 PHEV. It's the kind that does not have a captive cable, so anyone taking it will need a separate cable... It's located in Hemel Hempstead...

Pressurized Fuel Tank - does Outlander PHEV have it?

My new Nissan does not have a fuel cap at all. There's a metal flap in the bodywork that flips open if you press it lightly. Inside, there's the metal tube that leads down to the tank and this has a simple hinged flap that you push open with the pump nozzle. Martin
